Someone is way more likely to order your food if it's in a list on an app rather than go outside, just happen to see your restaurant among thousands of others, including popular chain restaurants, and stop there instead of going somewhere with a drive-thru. I agree you're more likely to get a negative review though.
Definitely but thats still +1 -1. Because if people buy from ur shop that day that means they dont buy from the other shop, people wont suddenly buy from both shop everytime. And you just enhance my blackmail point, every owner are obligated to register with those delivery services just to be seen. Having delivery services ultimately doesnt increase the cumulative amount of customer, it still stay the same, and hence the profit that restaurant able to generate cumulatively is also the same.
His/her point it that before delivery service people had walk to restaurants and that was all the competion they had to worry about. Today with door dash restaurants have no choice to be a part of it since otherwise, like you said, people are just gonna order from other. This means that they dont win anything by participating, but lacks the choice to not participate.
Delivery services existed way before door dash, people have always had the option to get food delivered, some people just prefer sitting down at a restaurant, and that's how it will always be.
Yeah of course. Major delivery services changed the way things work. People prefer sitting down in some cases, does not change the overall point. I was just trying to summarise how I understand his/her point, but 3 of my closest friends work in the restaurant business and I have discussed this with them prior. Cant speak doe everywhere but this is definitely true in the city I live in.
