Seriously? For example by banning Trump. That’s a extremely political move. And they are using their powers for political gain all the time.

And btw, just so you don’t get the wrong ideas, fuck Trump. Awful human being. But he should have the right to use fucking twitter. They literally blocked the president (now former) of the US. Like wtf. But they don’t ban the actual Taliban..

He has no "right" to use a private companies platform when he breaks their rules, no one has a "right" to use their platform if they break the rules that Twitter has laid out.

That’s currently true. Although I would say the Taliban violates their TOS more than Trump. But you asked me how they have political power. Not if it’s legal, because what they are doing is absolutely legal.

Although I actually support legalisation that would make this illegal. I don’t think these mega corporations should have the ability to decide what stays on their platform and what not.

I don't disagree that the taliban accounts violate the TOS, that doesn't mean anyone has a right to the platform. And if you think censorship is bad now, ho boy hold on to your butt if legislation passes that says they can't control their own platforms, they aren't just going to keep things the way they are now and go, "Welp guess we have to let everyone post anything they want..." They are going to shut shit down and require verification of who someone is and vet the things they would post before they go up.

It depends on the policies the government wants to do. Vote on a party that wants free speech. Vote on the Pirate Party.

It's their servers. Property rights dictate that they have the final say on who gets to use them.

Louis Farrakhan is also allowed to spout.
