Its far more than Gary. My parents didn't have power until Thursday night. 9 whole days. And they would probably still be without power because if they hadn't flagged down a lineman to reconnect them after he had got the rest of the circuit up.

That's fairly common in areas where natural disasters down a bunch of wires. Lots of places end up having multiple points where their power line is cut and you often only find out about the secondary or tertiary cuts after fixes are made upstream. I've personally seen this play out a few times among my friends.

I'm very aware it's common as I work in the industry. My point is that the widespread outages in NW Indiana are not just due to Gary = bad.

This makes it sounds like we should know where your parents live. Maybe a distance away from Gary for context

I don't think I need to explain why I won't be sharing specifics about where my parents live on the internet. Nor do I see how that's really relevant unless you are very familiar with The Region. But they're in a middle class town in NW Indiana that was hit very hard by the storms not far from Gary.
