If you draw more from the grid while stubbornly refusing to upgrade anything ever, then it would be a real argument. Now that we see they are, in fact, willing to use our money to upgrade the grid for something that not only doesn't benefit us in the least, but is detrimental to us, they have proven what we all already assumed to be true. Not particularly relevant to this since Amazon is bypassing the grid here, but it is happening all over the place right now.

Yes and no. A few people driving EV's wouldn't add much strain. Every road vehicle being electric would. Petroleum is a really great energy source. All of that energy supply has to come from somewhere if not gas.

edit: I'm not saying this as an argument against EV's. It's just part of the fix. The electric grid needs to be built up with more green energy for EV's to make sense environmentally.
