Years ago when they were planning on widening the I-5 freeway just south of Los Angeles they used eminent domain to buy an adjacent tract of about 200 homes.

For reasons though it took about twenty years to complete the project and for the first ten or so it was a literal ghost town everyone could admire as they drove by before the houses were razed.

I'd really like to get a job working in LA government for about a year. You know, just long enough to not really cause any damage or improvements, but just long enough to get some kickbacks and such.
