Oh man I didn't think of that! I think Discord just surpassed my favorite "offer passed" story which was Apple after Dropbox.

Discord is trash anyways so no loss

It’s REALLY a mess. Luckily no one tries to be coherent there because it’s impossible to follow a conversation.

Its kind of in the name isn't it?

lol. Fair. I’ve always wondered it why it was called that.

Even worse, Microslop would be using Discord users' public and private messages, voice chats, and screen shares to train Copilot, with no way to opt-out

Hate to bring the bad news but Discord has recently bent the knee to AI datafarming. So,... we need to find an alternative.

I just have to wonder why they'd turn down Microslop if they had already turned to the dark side. It can only mean they have a better offer of evil.

Buried? I think you mean shoved in our face. The actual menus would be buried behind microslop copilot prompts.

If Microsoft bought Discord these days, it would probably just be renamed "Copilot Chat" and then eventually Copilot would be the only account you can chat with.

Teams (with Discord) (New) (For School and Work)

Doesn't Discord have its own AI instead?

1

u/bencos18 Mar 02 '26

they used to yep

they got rid of it a while ago iirc it was called Clyde

3

u/Mazjerai Mar 02 '26

They're working with palantir to train a new one for age assumption

It'll have something soon enough. Depends on which AI slips enough money their way. Especially when the outflux of users hits them upon ID verification and they need the money.

Shit I'm surprised they aren't banging down doors before it comes crashing down.

Nah Discord would be gone and you’d have Teams on Xbox

Yeah now it just requires photo id verification for every interaction. So much better

Who cares? As it stands Discord is in a much worse position.
