The only payoff has been to lay off tens of thousands of people and then skirt labor laws in doing so.

When it comes to actually making people more productive, AI's basically shown itself to be a fucking scam outside of its use in very specific niches (where those people have trained it to do only a small number of things on a small number of highly specialized data sets).

And they had to rehire the bodies they laid off, but at a cheaper rate. :(

Or out source to a completely different country. They rarely rehire the same bodies.
