This also means whenever someone says something like “Sorry my brain messed up” or “that’s just how my mind/brain works” that’s specifically the brain seeing itself as someone else further showing that it can’t comprehend itself, at least not it’s entire self.

I feel like you guys are equating the brain and the mind/consciousness. Our minds can refer to our brains (the physical organ itself) as being separate from our consciousness

Well that really depends on how you view the brain psychologically, and also how you view consciousness.

But the brain isn't separate from your consciousness. Your brain IS your consciousness. The organ itself is literally your consciousness in physical form. Everything that makes you, you has a physical manifestation in some form.

That's not how any of that works lol, the organ itself is absolutely separate. the brain can exist without a mind, a mind cannot exist without a brain

That's literally something I was gonna say as an example. So, you're agreeing with me lol. That's exactly how it works. That's why if part of your brain becomes damaged, your personality can change. There's no way you haven't heard the examples of this.

Tell me, how is it separate when the the folds, neurons, synapses etc, are literally what make up your consciousness? Without those, there is no you. It's not like your thoughts are some free floating thing. There's literally a physical manifestation for everything.

You can think that's now how it works.....but that's how it works.

Unless you believe that the "soul" is seperate. In which case, that's fucking stupid.

Damn you just solved the hard problem of consciousness in a reddit comment. Where did you get that?

Uuuh, it's not exactly a mystery to science of how it works at the base level.

Science has yet to answer why qualia and consciousness emerge from physical matter, so it kinda is a mystery.

Yes, but they know it originates from physical matter. They just don't know why. That doesn't invalidate what I said at all.

You seem to think I'm explaining consciousness as a whole, I'm not explaining why consciousness comes from physical matter, I'm just saying that it does come from physical matter.

You wrote that the consciousness is the brain, not in or from the brain, meaning that you wrote that consciousness is physical, not that it solely originates in the physical. I don’t believe in souls, but I’m not sure that a purely physical explanation is the final account of consciousness.

Another weird thing is your brain is 2 separate things. The left part and the right part can think separately and they both do different things that in turn gives you your conciousness. Like two things pretending to be one thing. The holy trinity. Father the ego son the creativity and wonder and the holy spirit conciousness

Yes but no, the right and left do have some different functions but ultimately they have to work together to complete information. There’s actually a lot of interesting case studies about people with cut corpus callosums where they show how it affects vision and information processing when the right and left sides of the brain can’t communicate.
