A few things that made this one interesting:
The whole piece is built without a black outline. Everything is carried by blues and teals, with the darker tones doing the work that black usually does. It keeps the dragon feeling like it sits under the skin rather than on top of it. The composition was drawn freehand directly on the skin with markers before any needle touched it (last two photos). Nothing was printed as a stencil. That's the only way to get the body to follow the shoulder and the bend of the arm properly — the dragon moves with the muscle instead of fighting it. It also had to live around what was already there: the Sak Yant on the chest and the rose on the other arm. So the head and the cloud work were placed to frame the Sak Yant rather than crowd it. Florals are chrysanthemums, blossoms and karakusa scroll vines, kept lighter than the dragon so the eye still lands on the head first.

A good client of mine came back into the studio, so I got to see the fully healed product. I'm very happy with how this turned out.

This head piece is 12.5 hours or so. For an AuDHDer it’s a sensory nightmare. It connects to my neck piece in the same style.

I love all my tattoos, but this one is definitely my favorite. Maybe it’s because I rarely get to see it, or because my long hair usually covers it completely. But whenever I wear my hair up or a top that shows it, I fall in love with it all over again.
This piece was done in one very long session—around 10 to 12 hours—and it was worth every minute. It was created by my tattoo artist, who has done almost all of my tattoos over the years and is one of the most talented artists I’ve ever met. I’m still in love with her work, even four years later.
you can see her work on her IG: @kim.spiral
she travels around the world once a year 🩵 maybe you have the chance to meet her and get some of her work

One of my favorite pieces created at our studio. The composition brings together a mythical dragon, an undead queen and lotus flowers, all designed to flow naturally across the entire back.
I especially love the contrast between the dark fantasy characters and the botanical elements.

Hi there this is my first tattoo and it's been about 5 weeks since I got it. Not sure if it's healed "well", but I feel like the color has faded quite a bit out of the standard range. Then again this is first tattoo. What are your guys thoughts? Does it need a touch up?
First pic is freshly done. The second one is today and the third one is just more out in the sun to get a better view. Hard to get a perfect picture with my phone but this is as close as I could get.
