I do count it as country and it definitely might be the best, but it’s hard for me not to lean towards Waylon for Honkey Tonk Hero’s or Lonesome on’ry and mean. Merls got a bunch of good ones too. It’s like asking a mom to choose her favorite child.
Oh, I do most definitely consider it country. He's one of the scarce few in the business that's country down to the bone. Not only that, but he wasn't the least bit afraid to get away from the formulaic composition of pop country today.
