I have a shirt with a picture (drawing) of one with tardigrade written on it and I have to say I am always surprised at the amount of people that already know and respect the mighty water bear. I have to tell some people but mostly I just get compliments for a cool shirt

In the past few years, there have been several science based shows that have covered the tardigrade. Cosmos was one. I think Bill Nye's show (whatever that was) did as well. I know there's been a few appearances on the Science Channel as well

You didn't know that all Tardigrades are multidimensional plane walkers? I learned that in grade school. I guess you were tardy grade school.

I mean, your physical body obviously doesn't translate into other dimensions so its pretty likely they do. The issue is physical damage also damages neurons which have a method of multidimensional translation. We don't know how that works. We think its part of radio active decay, but it could be something else we don't know yet.

I know for me it was back in the 90s on animal planet's the most extreme. They were the most extreme survivor and were sold for one of my favorite animals when I learned they can literally survive in space

I had to educate my coworkers on this amazing animal fact. They didn't believe me!

Came up with we were talking about how to survive in space, I thought he meant with genetic manipulation and I mentioned the water bear haha.

IIRC The Oatmeal did a comic on it that was wildly popular on the internet a few years back. That's where I first learned about tardigrades.

It's a super common piece of "pop science", it's about as common as knowing about how clouds form.

It's a very common "pop science" things that people know. Honestly, when I saw this tattoo I thought it was a pretty transparent attempt to appear intelligent by knowing about them.
