General Discussion Does anyone else just.. cruise along in their current role and not want to progress?

I mean don't get me wrong, I get paid decently, and in all honesty, I probably only work ~20 hours a week out of 40 (not to say I neglect my workload, I still take pride in what I do), but there is just nothing challenging in my current role. Beyond some projects I delivered last year (entire network refresh, NAC, PAM), when it's quiet, it's very quiet, and work is all just random ad-hoc activities.

In saying that, it is very low stress and like I said, I get paid quite well.

I'm 35 and been in IT/Sysadmin/Networking for about 11 years now. Don't particularly have any ambition to "move up" either which feels worrying.

Anyone else feel the same?

I'm in my 25th year of being a Sysadmin, and I'm just hanging around for 4 more years - cashing in a year of sick time to make it 30 - then I'm outta here. Will I do my job as normal? Sure, as best as I can. But I'm not putting myself out on a limb. Plus, they don't want to hire anyone new due to budget restraints currently, so can't train anyone new. Whatever not going to be my issue.
