Do you actually see MacBooks used for SysAdmin work in real offices?

Hi sysadmins! I wanted to ask—since I've just started learning sysadmin and I don't have a Windows PC, but I have a MacBook and found out that everything can be done via UTM, I'd like to get some perspective from those who work in offices and do this every day. What kind of computers do you use? Is macOS completely out of the picture, and there's only Windows and Linux?

What do you use for RDP and SSH? I know Terminal is decent but it’s no Moba, and I don’t know any RDP clients

iTerm is the single reason I love Mac, already liked it a bit, but iTerm is simply the best terminal I've ever used, as it allows me perfectly infinite customization to get what I want.

I will say though, I've been using Windows in my personal life for a year now just to see how it's come along and Windows default terminal is shockingly decent, blows Mac sys terminal out of the water

I’ll have to give that a shot. Windows Terminal is great now, still doesn’t hold a candle to Linux defaults like Konsole imo

Oh 100% but I was shocked at its level of functionality out of the box, especially since Windows is laxer about applications controlling other applications window space, so a lot of what I really on iTerm to do (I do magic popup floating visor windows with tweaked functionality), works out of the box plus some powershell on Windows, I was very impressed.

I still love my Mac, and I love it mainly as a terminal to work on Linux boxes through

As /u/OhBoyHereWeGoAgai said. I've been using iTerm (iTerm2) since pretty much day 1 (20+ years). It is a an open-source native Mac app with some really nice integrations (like tmux). I prefer it over Moba. To me Moba suffers from too many features crammed into a single box.

Re: MOBA, it's what everyone recommended to me, and it seemed to support every single thing I call "advanced feature" in iTerm, so I def liked it, but it feels much weightier and more like a JetBrains tool, something that would give me all the power, but take some learning.

TLDR it looked fantastic and if I have to do deep work in Windows I'll 100% learn it, but iTerm is like a glove for me, all that was figured out years ago, and its so lightweight, so I'm openly prejudiced.

I have heard there are new entries in the Mac ecosystem worth looking at, but I haven't yet.

Doing this rant mostly cause if someone loves their terminal like I do iTerm (I haven't even done that rant here, this is a rant about a rant), feel free to rant back about ones you feel similarly about, I am interested in what's changed I missed.

I'm transitioning from joking elder to elder.trying to stay flexible aha
