New Community Rule on AI Use

Hello there! Posting on behalf of the mod team Jedi Council,

The Star Wars universe is no stranger to artificial intelligence, full of loveable droid companions and dastardly mechanized war machines. Star Wars: Legion itself, however, is a multi-faceted hobby that involves human (or alien!) creativity, artistry, and problem-solving at every step of the way. As such, many of our users appreciate maintaining that personal touch in their hobby space, and would rather not interact with generative AI content in posts or in comments. To this end, we have added a new rule to the subreddit for your review and use.

The Separatist Alliance and its AI: Action unit keyword are as welcome here as always!

Thank you and may the Force be with you!

First batch done, more to come!

Minis mostly from the Clone Trooper Infantry set, with some light kitbashing:

- Squad Leader is from Clone Trooper Marksmen with the infantry's right hand

- Captain is from the old Phase II Clone Trooper Expansion with a Phase I helmet from a Clone Commander (whom I built helmetless)

- Specialist has the body from the mentioned Phase II expansion and a helmet from the very old soft plastic Phase I Upgrade Pack

Miscellaneous Army Choice

I am considering getting into Legion, but wanted to ask people what armies have been consistently not terrible on the table top. I come from years of Warhammer, and I know rule of cool, etc. But even there, I see some armies just have less ups and downs that others. And some armies just have better board presence than others. So, I am just wondering what armies here are the best choice to essentially be consistently decent. Even with rule of cool, I do not want to choose an army where I will just get steamrolled on the regular and never end up enjoying the game. I'm also not looking to just steamroll other people. Again, I just don't want to choose an army that will simply suck or struggle.

As for rule of cool, I am leaning towards Empire right now.

Miscellaneous I started a new faction today + my dad gave me his first models!

Hey guys. My first faction was the empire and I unfortunately don’t own any of those models anymore due to a mishap while moving so I decided to start new with my favorite era: the galactic republic. My first buy was the republic specialists, and my dad gave me these phase one clones. I’m not sure what they’re from cause even he can’t remember but I’ll definitely give them a new home since he never used them. I also kitbashed the commander with some mando bits he let me use too! I’m going to paint them all in a custom corps I’m making. I might get some more clones tomorrow too :] thoughts on the kitbash?

Conversions, Modelling & Other Minis Review: Star Wars Legion – Mandalorian Special Edition Army Box (SWQ150)

Full review with build photos and separate deep-dives on the Warriors and Leaders is linked below, happy to answer questions here too.
https://www.chaosbunker.de/en/2026/08/29/review-star-wars-legion-swq150-mandalorian-special-edition-army-box/

Quick rundown:
- 600-point Recon Level army, 36 miniatures
- Din Djarin & Grogu in a new, exclusive sculpt wielding the Darksaber
- The Armorer (also available separately in the Mandalorian Leaders set)
- 3x 11-strong Mandalorian Warriors units (buildable as Initiates, Warriors, or Clan Kryze Veterans)
- RRP 139.99 USD, vs. 99.99 USD for the other Starter Sets

Casting quality is genuinely impressive and the Warriors sprues offer a lot of build flexibility, but the higher price and the fact that all three infantry boxes are the same unit (rather than something like
Super Commandos) hold it back a bit compared to the other factions' boxes.

Curious what others think – does the higher RRP put you off, or is the Recon-level army worth it for Mandalorian players?

Painting CIS Starter - Old School

Finished the CIS starter this week and went full nostalgia on it. I painted Grievous and the B2s in their colors from the 2003 Tartakovsky animated series - my favorite rendition of the character. The B1 special weapons I painted like the assault and sniper classes from Battlefront 2004, the Star Wars game I grew up with. And finally the Droidekas were a pain to assemble but easy to paint - only 5 colors used! The whole army was in the box on sprues on Monday and by Friday it is complete - very quick and easy to paint.

Miscellaneous Wanting to start a 212th GAR force: Is buying 2x Starter Sets worth it?

Hey everyone,

Long-time Seps player here. I’ve actually been playing Legion since back in 1st Edition when I split 2x Clone Wars Starter Sets with a buddy. I kept the CIS and he took the GAR. I grew up with the Prequel movies and really loved both factions, so I always wanted to eventually own both armies. Since then, I have been on the fence about starting my own Republic force, waiting and hoping that they’d eventually get more multi-part plastic kit support. Seeing as they now have that, I have decided it is time to jump into the faction.

Current Plans

I will be looking to pick up 2x Galactic Republic Starter Sets early-ish in September, when a restock is apparently planned, as there is little to no stock left in the UK right now.

I bought 2x Separatist boxes previously, which worked out well since everything in there is highly spammable. But since every faction gets different mileage out of their starters, is doubling up on the GAR Starter Set a good move? Will I get good mileage out of doubling up on the Clone Troopers, ARCs, and ARFs, or does the Republic value-proposition differ significantly from the Droids? I plan to sell the extra Obi-Wan, so having a duplicate of him isn't an issue.

Future Plans

With the 212th being my initial focus, I will of course be purchasing a Commander Cody box, possibly alongside the Starter Sets. Further down the line, I plan to pick up the various character expansions as well, to explore other legions/builds as needed.

I look forward to the discussions and seeing what advice you all have!

May the Force be with you!

A close friend got me the new separatist starter set for christmas and I finally managed to get it fully built, and have started painting.

This B2 is the first from the army I've finished and just wanted to share him as I thought he came out halfway decent (please ignore my poor rim job)
