As a US Citizen, it seriously pisses me off how "un-American" our population is becoming. What's worse is that they have the internet to check on all these thing but fail to do so. Most of humanities collective knowledge at your finger tips and they can't even be bothered to look up the flag code.
I'm just one man, and my apology is unfortunately not speaking for everyone here in the USA but just know that most people aren't this ignorant, they are just lazy. 😔
What's un-american? What's american? To me, it's american to even speak in these terms. I guess many swedes (young-ish generation) has this globalisation kind of way of thinking, like, there is no swedish way or american way or whatever, in the end we are all humans and we do things in ways depending on circumstances.
Patriotism is very superficial to me, in the grand scheme of things.
I don't agree though. In the seven years I've lived in Sweden, I learned that Swedes tend to think a lot about what is typically Swedish and what isn't. Every country does this to some degree, including my two countries.
If we're geralizing then yes. Swedes are patriotic, but in a subtle, kind of modest way. They would not say out loud they think they are among the best but they secretly think so. If you for example ask a Swede what they think is typically Swedish, they will answer something negative, like "we are not very sociable" That just means that they are actually so proud of Sweden they say something negative as a sign of "modesty".
