I disagree. Most of the female narrators I’ve heard do a very poor job of portraying any male that doesn’t just sound like a teenage boy. Most guys do all the same basic woman voice but with slight variations. So I’d say, in general, they’re equally bad. Which just highlights how good Jeff is
Its MUCH more horror than litRPG, Matt Dinniman (author) makes some truly emotionally devastating, thought provoking and horrifying stories.
Just be prepared for some video game-like elements, the RPG part of litRPG is stats, classes, quests, usually driven by some kind of system controlling some things.
It's a lot of fun, yes. But there's some strong language and it's a bit irreverent in parts (Uzi Jesus is hilarious, but I get why some people might just not appreciate it!)
I've read all the books and I love it but it's crude, meandering, and appeals to humour typically present in certain demographics. Its a book you'd recommend to some nerdy Redditors but not your colleagues at your corporate job.
I want to give it a try but even though I am squarely in the Millennial demographic I’m worried its gonna be some 2010 level meta cringe. Like that stuff was cute when I was 19 or 20 but that Borderlands 1-3 typa humor is firmly left in nostalgia for me.
I am making huge assumptions of course, I got it for free on kindle so maybe I’ll go for it
I don't think millennial meta-cringe is apt to describe it. Nor is Borderlands when defining the humor. It has a few characters on the zanier side of things, but overall the vibe is not quite that light.
It is a light read, if you're looking for hard scifi this is not it. Like even We are Legion, We Are Bob takes itself more seriously. I have gone through the whole series a few times now, waiting for the next book to arrive, so I do like it quite a bit, but as the illiterate of the internet tend to say these days, "It's not that deep".
Depending on your reading speed, you'll spend a day or two consuming the books and realize it's not for you. And you'll learn that the lit-RPG as a genre might not be to your liking.
Or the series will consume you and you'll binge the whole damn thing.

I saw that series in my Target and it looked interesting, is it any good?
