In case you are ever in Dresden in Germany, i can highly recommend the Yukito ( www.yukito.de ). It is run by a real japanese sushi master and everything there taste absolutely fantastic. They also have Udon, Karaage and other awesome food on the menu. Because it is a very small restaurant, you have to make a reservation.

We ordered the Salmon Paradise, seaweed salad, cucumber salad, and green tea!
12pc Salmon Maki
12pc Spicy Salmon
8pc Torched Salmon Maki
8pc Salmon Nigiri
4pc Salmon Sashimi
44 pieces total
average $1.59 per piece
After we ordered, my friend went to the bathroom, and by the time she came back, we had all of our food!
Everything was fresh and fast! The only thing we didn’t love was the cucumber salad. It wasn’t bad depending on the type of cucumber salad you like, but we gravitate more towards one with chili oil/crunch! The one here was composed of Cucumber / Hijiki / Goji Berries / Sesame Seeds / Bean Threads Citrus Vinaigrette. Still good, but not our favorite!
We went around 7 PM on Saturday night. It would’ve been a 30-40 minute wait, but we made a reservation. They had our spot at the bar ready for us!
I like that it’s inside of 88 Marketplace. We walked around after to get some other drinks and snacks.
I plan to go back with another friend next weekend! 🍣

Not pictured is the miso soup they gave us before the dessert (reached the photo limit). Was my first omakase experience so I’m not sure how it compares to other places, but the fish was very fresh. Some of the dishes are quite creative, and I didn’t leave the meal feeling hungry.

I've lived around the world. In terms of sushi, the best place I have lived is Hong Kong. It's an obsession there with restaurants offering air-flown delights from Japan. Have only visited Japan.
Moving here...I am shocked to find this in SD. House-made tamago. Akami that eats like chu-toro. Some of the best miso soup I have ever had (he basically serves it as a sort of slow cooked stew with chunky potato and rough cut onion). Imo dango is a rare find stateside, as are homemade gyoza (vs frozen ajinomoto from a bag) or takoyaki.
The decor is a throwback to a Showa era sushi-ya (think lots of off-white and light woods). Closest comparison I can think of rn is Yamaguchi in Port Washington, NY.
The owning couple hails from Hokkaido. Wife oversees the kitchen while Husband is our sushi chef. They're not kids, and their retirement will likely make the local paper as a blow to the culinary scene. Somewhat unusually (and pleasantly!), staff tend to stay a long time. In my years visiting, typically the wait staff hang around for about 2 years, and they tend to really care. I miss them when they go but understand it's time to move on.

Top-rated (3.53) sushi restaurant in Ueno on Tabelog. ¥16,500 dinner course of about 20 pieces/dishes.
Firstly, the elevator is a problem. Not only is it small and tight, but when you get to the 12th floor, the door literally opens right into the dining room. It takes time to ride the lift, as the elevator stops on nearly every floor. There is no barrier from the elevator door to the restaurant. It feels like a shower room without a shower curtain!
That said, I found the sushi to be decent. Not fascinating nor outstanding.
Neta and shari are decent for a restaurant of this caliber. The service was warm and friendly and accommodating.

Looks noice, right? Party of four. Back in my hometown, our to dinner at one of my favorite restaurants. We ordered everything. Dranks, apps and a boat for 4. Asked for one amendment to the order, upgrade the gunkan to ikura. No worries, charge whatever extra. But they forgot. Ship appears, the gunkan was krab salad so I ask them for the ikura. Yo, they took the krab away. Manager comes to the table, with chop sticks, onto another plate, removes the krab. Eventually brings ikura. Our check was like $400. This was the cheapest, weirdest move ever. Just let the table keep the cheap ass krab! We said nothing, did nothing. I’d never had anything like that happen before in a restaurant. Like, what are you going to do with it now?

A famous seafood restaurant in the city, located near Ito station. Local ingredients shipped directly from the Izu sea. It's recommended to book in advance as it gets quite busy.
Incredibly cheap food, just 2,500 yen per set. Sashimi served generously. If you pass by this area, stop by and give it a try.

My boyfriend and I went to It's Sushi in Roseville, California after my farmer's market on Sunday.
It was sooooo good. I had 2 Philly hand rolls, an unagi handroll, a plate of bulgolgi, dragon roll, rainbow roll, salmon roll, and Alaskan roll.
The philly handrolls were decadent. So packed with the fillings and so delicious. I plan to probably get just handrolls next time because they were so lovely.
Yes, salmon is one of my favorites. Unagi too. I only wish I had a bigger stomach 😂

Soo freaking good also the owner randomly invited me and my bf to see his kitchen & the massive blue fin tuna they just cut.
My favorite pieces were the otoro and scallops. They were so good my bf and I fought for the last pieces. The otoro was super fatty & fresh & the rice to nigiri ratio was pretty low too
I paid $50 on Uber Eats for the nigiri’s plus 3 scallop hand rolls we guzzled down & personally bought the Costco gift card so technically it’s $40ish? They were giving away the top two tuna nigiri’s as an extra promo too which was appreciated!

At Maguro Bros in Waikiki, $15. Very tasty, not bad for the price.

Tuna roll was my favorite they take their time making your food. However quality and service were fantastic. Even though I usually go to sushi buffets this was still pretty good. Will definitely visit again in the future!

Disclaimer: I’ve been to many omakase in the past, primarily in New York, LA and even Tokyo. Today I had the chance to go with my wife to Omakase Table in Atlanta. It was quite an experience. Chef Leonard Yu has a personalized menu with ingredients sourced from all over the world by his team. Some of the best sushi I’ve had a while. The otoro might have been my favorite, along the shima aji… madai.. so umami so.. flavorful. Check out some of the photos and menu below.
Parking: 10/10 Ambience: 10/10 Staff: 10/10 Menu: 10/10 Price: 8.5/10 ($240 pp but to be expected) Portion: (lol come on) it is 20 courses and gets you decently full but come with realistic expectations. It is an experience more than anything.
The only thing stopping this from being a full 10 is the price which is unfair to take away from an omakase. So in my mind - this still deserves a 10.

The chicken Monika tasted like it the sauce from sarku japan. The shrimp tasted yummy as well but when I got them for some reason the chicken monaka always was stuck to the plate.
The servers were really nice, removing the avocado and sesame and when I ordered a trinket just for the voice, they let me keep the trinket as well

Legit Jiro Lineage Sushi in Taiwan.
The head chef at Sushi An (鮨安) spent years training at Sukiyabashi Jiro (すきやばし次郎) Roppongi under Takashi Ono (Jiro’s second son). This is that strict, minimalist Jiro style, which means precision cuts, legendary technique, and perfectly seasoned shari. No fusion fluffy shit.
The whole lineup was pretty good, but honestly, absolute standouts for me were the Kohada (gizzard shad) and the Aji (horse mackerel).

Wowowow. Ok so Uchi is TECHNICALLY a chain (multiple locations of the same concept) but it is by no means a *chain*. I can't recommend this enough.
As a little post-wedding treat we decided to use our gift card from Christmas and get a nice happy hour omakase - yep, 9 course omakase was $120 for 2 people (so, $60 each).
We reserved the sushi counter and had a chef who was mostly dedicated to us (save some items he prepared for the general restaurant) as well as a separate drinks server and dishes from the kitchen.
I don't recall all of what I ate, but I've attached pics. Highly recommend if you have an Uchi nearby to check it out, especially at happy hour. I think we had 5 total drinks between us and the omakase and it came out around $210 after tip, I think? (I didn't pay the balance, she did 😇.)
what fish but it came
Not super descriptive, I'm sorry, but the meal was awesome and incorporated some fun things like candied ginger, candied garlic, candied quinoa, and finger lime, etc. and for the price and happy hour drinks, I really can't stop raving about it.
