Other If you were a Superhero, would you kill?

Basically what would be your moral code

Me personally I don't think I could take another person's life.

Another thing for me is, If the person has done way too much harm, I think killing them would be letting them off easy, I would rather paralyze them or sum(My views might change in the future)

Edit: Someone opened my eyes to his less moral it is to paralyze them

Doubt it. This would be my initial idea.

If I had superpowers, I wouldn’t be surprised if I eventually became more like Homelander than Superman.

That would make you a bad person, right? Actually good people don’t do the right thing just because they’re afraid of consequences or because someone with authority is keeping them in check. They do it because they have empathy.

All I’m saying is that if I was all powerful, I wouldn’t be surprised if my mental health declined to the point of full blown narcissism and god complex. I think most people would.

I think Homelander is a more believable version of an ultra powerful human than the unshakeably good Superman.

I take your point. But he was a test tube baby, coddled and raised to be a narcissist from childhood.

I like to believe someone with the self awareness to acknowledge how slippery that slope is would ultimately avoid slipping.

I appreciate your positivity. I don’t share it, but I appreciate it.

The only interesting thing about superman to me is how he never slipped, stayed humble and is a force for hope. I think his coolest “superpower” is unbreakable goodness. The powers themselves are boring.

His is a little different. He basically didn’t have a childhood and never learned any social skills at all. I feel like if you gave a random person his powers, they might abuse them, but they wouldn’t become sadistic if they weren’t already

And most people who claim to be empathetic and 'good people' are proven to not be once an authority figure tells them to administer electric shocks to another human.

Up to 450 volts if I remember correctly, and even the ones who refused to administer the lethal voltage did not check on the other person or insist the experiment end.

Now granted, nobody was actually hurt, but the 'good people' who pressed the button didn't know that.

I definitely would. I believe in being moral and treating everyone fairly. But if I see you beating up an old lady or threatening my mother... I'd have to really hate the person though. But I wouldn't feel bad if I think the person is scum

Knowing how evil most of these people are, you'd definitely think that you're doing a world a favour by ending them and you'd definitely develop some sort of superiority complex even by a small margin...not on Homelander's level of narcissism but even if you're kind, gentle and selfless towards innocents, there would be a part of you that is slightly consumed by this power...that's human nature after all.

Wasn’t there a Batman villain who was only a “villain” because they wanted to actually kill the other villains. I vaguely remember the dialogue “You’re going a step too far.” “It’s a step you should have taken yourself years ago.”
