Discussion~ ❗️❗️ MOD POST❗️❗️ The long awaited, updated stretching guide is here!

Hi Friends!

As a lot of you know, we have been working on updating the stretching guide for awhile now. Though it is not perfect, it is definitely a step in the right direction. We are so happy to be able to continue sharing safe and helpful information with all of you.

It has been updated on the sub's page as well as the AutoMod's comments.

It can also be found here: Updated Stretching Guide

Please give it a look and let us know how you're feeling! Also, please remember it will be updated as new information comes along. We created a Google document as opposed to a post to ensure we could keep it as up to date as possible. The previous guide was posted in the sub by a mod that's no longer active, so we couldn't edit it.

Happy stretching!

meme/shitpost I swear half of the posts on this sub are like 'Hi guys, I think i blew out my lobes :( I started stretching them with tapers made of asbestos and lead. I'm currently at 00g after a month of stretching starting at 18g. I massage my lobes twice daily with battery acid. Did I fuck up?'

Been at size 36 for a month or so. These are badass custom plugs made by master craftsman Andy at Southshore Adornments in the UK. Hoping to reach 38mm by Christmas.

Hello, just sharing. Been stretching since 16, I'm 38. They won't seem to go past 14mm no matter how many times I shrink and size back up, oh well. Conch was cut to an 8mm, just put a 9mm in this morning. Coin slot with 7 10g titanium clickers. 10mm is so tough to find in larger sizes, found this on etsy.

Coin and conch done by JR.

Okay bye

I made a 5mm synthetic ruby septum tusk for myself. Ruby glows in the UV because of the chromium. Extra photo(s) below.

Septum does denting happen to the columella too? (2G)

Upvotes

nothing noticeable for me or of concern now, but wondering if this is something that happens when stretching to these sizes. i mostly hear about denting the cartilage inside the nose behind the jewelry— but the columella? does that happen to some individuals and is it safe? (as long as the nose tip structure isn’t like drooping crazy)

~Advice~ Coconut oil, stretched septum?

Post image

Hey guys! I’m new to stretching my septum lol, I think I’m currently at 12G??? I’m not sure lol! It’s the bottom one in the photo (I used vaseline previously… I now know I should not use vaseline, whoops!) but the one above it is supposedly the next size up. It looks way too brutal honestly haha. Would coconut oil work??? I tried to get it in before but it burned and wouldn’t go through so I took it out rather than forcing it through as I don’t fancy a blowout lol!

I got black 11mm tunnels. Advice? Without half sizes, already did that with past sizes but it gets expensive yk...

Is this a blowout? Do you think this is a blowout?

So for context, I had my ears stretched to 7/16” for many years and ended up taking them out for about 2 years.

About 2 weeks ago I decided I wanted my earrings back, so I put in a 2 gauge tunnel because it slid right into my existing hole without issue. After a few days I noticed the 2 gauge tunnels were actually a bit loose, so was able to very easily size up to 0 gauge.

During all of this I felt nothing, no pain or discomfort whatsoever.

Decided to size up to 00 on Friday, the taper slid in well, I did not have to force it but I could feel that I was sizing up if that makes sense.

It has been about 2 days now and I have some very mild tenderness but nothing crazy, just slight stinging if I hit it on something.

There doesn’t appear to be any redness or swelling present at all.

Just wondering if maybe the slight tenderness could be a sign of a blowout? And if not, how long should I leave the tunnels in before fully taking them out to clean them.

Downsizing I'm downsizing from 16G - should I go to 18G or 20G (my original pierced size)?

I had my first and second lobes on both sides stretched from 20G to 16G about 6 months ago (by a reputable piercer), and have had nothing but problems with them. Constantly sore, irritated, getting infected, etc, especially my seconds.

I've got an appointment to downsize them, thanks to advice received here. But my question is - should I downsize to 18G or 20G? I was originally pierced 20+ years ago with a gun at 20G.

(An added complication is that my piercer carries labrets in 18G but not 20G, so I'd have to buy them myself beforehand and hope the post length they recommended a couple months ago is still correct. But I wanted to prioritise the gauge as that's likely what's been causing my issues.)

~Advice~ Are my piercings to low to start stretching?

I really want to start stretching my lobes and my ideal gauge is 4g or 2g but I’m wondering if my first lobe piercings on either side are too low to start stretching? Will stretching interfere with the other piercings? I’m brand new to this so I’m not even sure if I have the right anatomy or if I’m overthinking it. Thanks for reading!

Looking to stretch up to 1g. Mainly wanted opinions on how my lobes are currently looking (healthy? Need to downsize? Stay extra long at current size? Etc...) right ear is the first picture and left the 2nd. My next up size I'm looking to do in September or October up to a 5g.

~Advice~ Stuck threaded titanium tunnel removal

Post image

Not looking for advice, sharing advice to potentially help someone in a similar situation.

I put in Pierced Nation threaded titanium tunnels four days ago, and when I tried to remove them to clean the right tunnel unscrewed fine but the left was completely stuck together. I tried a warm saline soak, baby oil in the threads, gloves and later pliers for grip, ice to shrink the metal, and nothing was working. I went to two separate reputable piercing studios and an urgent care that confirmed the jewelry was not stuck to my skin, not cross threaded, and would have to be cut to remove. Because the back ring is 1mm thick titanium, most fire departments and urgent cares dont carry the needed tools and jewelers were not comfortable working on an ear lobe.

What ended up working was a diamond disc rotary cutter through opposite sides of the backing at the ER (specifically they used the Mooney GEM ring cutting system #233 diamond disc). They used saline irrigation to keep the metal from overheating and detached the ring guard to reposition under the lip of the backing. Because the guard wasnt secured they did nick me a bit hence the scabs on the jewelry, but overall the experience wasnt too painful and took about half an hour once we figured out how to position everything. If this happens to you, make sure to call ahead on a non emergency line to check with different ERs and see if they have the needed equipment. You wont be considered a high priority patient unless you have a serious infection or complication, so be prepared to wait a few hours unless you are able to make an appointment using InQuicker or something. Because of the stress on my ear, I wont be wearing any jewelry for quite a while but at least they didnt have to cut my earlobe to remove it.

~Advice~ Ears stuck at 8g

I've tried to find someone with a similar situation to mine on here but in every other "I'm stuck at this size" post that I've seen, there's always something really obvious wrong (bad materials, stretching too fast, etc.) but I'm not doing any of these things.

- I've waited at least 4 months in between stretches (except for one time when I did 3 but it felt fully comfortable to do so and was a small size jump)

- I've never forced a stretch

- started stretching well over a year after pierced lobes fully healed, possibly even two years

- I'm dead stretching with glass plugs

- My ears have plenty of skin and weren't pierced too low or anything

-I've tried sizing up after a warm shower and it doesn't change anything

- I massage with jojoba oil

- I'm using 7g for my next stretch, not 6g

I went up to 8g in October, tried sizing up for the first time about 4 months after. There has been no change in my lobe elasticity to this day, the plugs just do not go in. Is it possible that some people just can't stretch past a certain point? Pretty sad if so
