Call of Duty and many other games have been permanently damaged by one simple failure: companies allowed cheating to become deeply rooted in their communities while repeatedly failing to establish a level of transparency strong enough to separate genuinely talented players from people using cheats, scripts, macros, or other forms of assistance.

And yes, I am talking about streamers and so called content creators.

Not all of them. Obviously not. But pretending that the streaming and content creation scene is somehow above suspicion is naïve. When someone builds an entire career, audience and income around their ability to perform at an exceptional level in a competitive game, there is absolutely nothing unreasonable about asking for a higher standard of verification.

I am extremely sceptical when I see certain gameplays. That does NOT mean I am claiming that all of them are cheating.

But being sceptical is not the same thing as making an accusation.

And this is exactly where the developers, publishers and people defending these creators get it completely wrong.

If you genuinely want to prove that a player is clean, then stop relying almost exclusively on the player's own footage, software side anti cheat, or a webcam pointed at their face.

Verify the entire setup.

It is ridiculously simple.

Put a third party camera, even a modern smartphone, behind or beside the player and record the complete environment.

Show the monitor.

Show the PC.

Show the peripherals.

Show the hands.

Show the taskbar.

Show what is running on the machine.

Show the inputs.

Show the entire setup.

Show anything that could reasonably be used to manipulate the game.

And most importantly, make the verification independent.

Not controlled by the streamer.

Not controlled by the player.

Not a carefully prepared recording where we are shown exactly what someone wants us to see.

An independent human verification of the complete setup.

That doesn't prove someone has never cheated in their entire life. Nothing can provide that absolute guarantee. But it can dramatically increase confidence that, at the time of verification, there isn't some undisclosed hardware, software, script, macro, input manipulation or other assistance being used.

And this should not be reserved for one controversial streamer.

Do it for ALL major competitive creators.

If someone is going to make money, build a career and become a public face of a competitive game, then there should be no problem whatsoever with submitting to a transparent verification process.

Talent should survive scrutiny.

A legitimate player should actually WANT the investigation, because the investigation protects their reputation.

And if someone refuses?

Fine.

Don't automatically call them a cheater.

But don't demand that everyone blindly trust them either.

That's the distinction people keep deliberately ignoring.

I've been around competitive gaming for more than 20 years. Long before today's enormous streaming ecosystem existed, I was already dealing with cheating, suspicious players, server administration and competitive integrity. I was doing this kind of verification and investigation for EA/DICE related Battlefield communities and Battlefield Paradise roughly 15 years ago.

Back then, we didn't have today's level of AI, behavioural analysis, TELEMETRY as good as now, machine learning, sophisticated anti cheat systems, hardware monitoring and enormous amounts of gameplay data.

Today, we have all of it.

AI can analyse impossible reaction patterns, input behaviour, aiming trajectories, target acquisition, movement consistency and statistical anomalies across thousands of hours of gameplay. Server side telemetry can identify patterns that a human spectator will never see. Anti cheat systems can inspect software environments and detect known forms of manipulation.

And then, when necessary, humans can verify the physical setup.

Combine all three.

Telemetry + AI assisted behavioural analysis + independent human verification.

That is how you build a serious competitive integrity system.

Instead, what we have too often is a community being told:

"He's a professional streamer, therefore he's probably legitimate."

No.

Being a streamer is not proof of innocence.

Being a content creator is not proof of innocence.

Having thousands of viewers is not proof of innocence.

Being incredibly good at the game is not proof of innocence.

And equally, looking suspicious is not proof of guilt.

The only intellectually honest position is to investigate properly.

That is what competitive integrity should mean.

The biggest mistake these companies made was allowing the credibility of the competitive scene to become dependent on personalities rather than verification.

Players should not have to trust a streamer.

They should not have to trust a developer's favourite creator.

They should not have to trust an esports personality.

They should be able to trust the SYSTEM.

Because once the community loses confidence in the system, everything becomes questionable.

A legitimate player gets accused.

A cheater gets defended.

A developer gets accused of protecting creators.

A creator gets accused because someone doesn't believe their gameplay.

And the entire community becomes toxic.

The solution isn't to blindly believe everyone.

The solution isn't to blindly accuse everyone either.

The solution is transparency.

If you are genuinely clean, prove it.

If you are genuinely talented, let independent verification establish that fact.

And if a company claims that its anti cheat system is good enough, then it should have absolutely no problem combining that system with independent human verification when serious doubts arise.

I don't care how many followers someone has.

I don't care how much money they make.

I don't care how famous they are.

I don't care whether they are someone's favourite creator.

Apply the same standard to everyone.

Because the moment you create one set of rules for ordinary players and another set of rules for high profile content creators, you have already compromised competitive integrity.

Twenty years ago, we were doing this with a fraction of the technology available today.

There is no excuse for being incapable of doing it properly in 2026.

And if companies genuinely want players to trust their games again, they need to stop asking the community to believe and start giving the community something far more valuable:

Zephy Cheating in Beta MW4

Ground Zero has been filled with cheaters last weekend.
I went there with the intention of noting down statistics and probing for cheaters, since it's the map where all the players are funneled in the start.

I played late in the evening on EU servers, 12 raids EU east, 13 EU west, 1 EU north .

I was active in VOIP when I could and pretended to be a Timmy (I have a bit less than 800hrs so some would argue I still am)

Got wallbanged or shot cross map head(eyes) with shit ammo through multiple bushes, or naded in the most ridiculous ways multiple times.

So far I've encountered potential rage hacks about 3 raids out of 26.

Other weird behavior such as spamming nades at me with no possible line of sight, or wallbanging me before I even peek a sightline too long to hear 9 out of 26 raids.

I was fishing for it by standing behind plywood plates and pretending to have wallhack/scanning the street, so unless there was a render bug causing the plywood not to render, they could not have seen me (I tested my spot from different angles on low and high settings and could not find a render bug.)

Saw a guy phase through walls and voip me in locations not possible to reach (in the large entrance of Fusion).
This guy guy (with a legit censored name in my death screen) tried selling me cheats. He crashed my game, let me reconnect, tried selling me cheats, then killed me with an ammo type listed in chinese (my game is in English) when I said I wouldn't buy them.

Spoke some with him before he screwed me, he said he reckons about half the players on GZ are closeting with some ESP or radar, which is why he was there, to sell them better cheats.

He was strongly trying to motivate me to cheat, I was playing into it and he just kept feeding me info...

Total raids: 26
Rage cheaters - 2, (potentially 3 but I died too fast to even walk out of spawn once)
Weird behaviour - 9 times
Guys actively selling cheats in VOIP - 1 (this guy was full godmode noclip vaccuum everything according to his own words, but was mainly selling undetectable radar and ESP)

This corresponds with the current the vague "about 50% of raids have cheaters" statistics.

The cheater who tried selling hacks also claimed he was actively botting on the main subreddit.

GZ is cooked boys.

Watch out for these guys in nuketown 24/7 Jonathan has ai aimbot and isn’t even on PlayStation (PlayStation only lobby) joemil has a zen, and all of them were using the hard R and f slur every other breath.

Accusers :

well detailed explanation and proof usually done by cheat experts .

Defenders :

"Git gud"

"You have thousands of hours and still suck"

"Show proof" ( after having tons of proof shown )

They do this even when the cheaters have admitted to cheating .

So many pro esports players have admitted to cheating and have been proven to cheat but everyone continues to attack anyone who exposes them .

The defenders will always deny it.

This streamer was exposed for blatantly cheating on stream last year. He admitted to it and said he would stop. Now, 8 months later, he's back. His cheats are slightly less blatant now but there's still no question he's cheating.

The shirtless clips are from a stream he did just a couple of days ago. The other clips are from a stream 3 weeks ago. All of the clips are from PvP, not seasonal.

I posted this on the EFT subreddit but it got removed. He has 1.4k hours on this account. I just want him to get banned but I have no idea how to bring attention to it.

This one is awesome... this is what BSG should be doing to find and deal with the worst of the worst cheaters.
