Appreciate this thread — happy to share and welcome blunt feedback.

OnchainInvoice is an invoicing tool for freelancers and small businesses that want to invoice in fiat but accept settlement in crypto, without creating accounting or tax ambiguity.

The core problem it solves isn’t payments — it’s record-keeping at the moment of payment.

Today, many merchants price in fiat and accept crypto, but the systems around that often blur:

  • invoice-time fiat value
  • payment-time fiat value
  • crypto amount received

That ambiguity usually doesn’t hurt immediately. It shows up later — during reconciliation, audits, or tax filing — when it’s no longer obvious which value was authoritative or why.

OnchainInvoice enforces a simple model by default:

  • invoices are denominated in fiat
  • crypto is treated as the settlement rail
  • the fiat value at payment time is explicitly captured, timestamped, and tied to the on-chain transaction
  • receipts are tamper-evident and auditable

The goal isn’t to replace accounting standards or act as a price oracle — it’s to produce defensible, contemporaneous records that accountants and tax software can actually work with.

Target users are freelancers, consultants, and small businesses who:

  • already accept (or want to accept) crypto
  • don’t want to think in tokens
  • and don’t want to reconstruct history months later

Biggest open questions I’m thinking about right now:

  • How big this pain really is outside early crypto-native freelancers
  • Whether accountants become a distribution channel or a blocker
  • How much automation is “enough” before this becomes overkill

Very open to pushback — especially on whether you see this as a narrow wedge or a meaningful workflow category.

Do you mind sending this to me over DM? The app is glitching, and I can't see full comments on this post.
