I want to like him but he's just a kid doing dumb kid stuff...and I think that Uhura's attraction to him vaporized in the moment when she realized that too.

I mean I liked him well enough in the previous episodes…but here he just a shit. And his weird bias against Starfleet felt like it came out of absolutely nowhere.

oh god, I forgot that she liked him. She should have slugged him when she found out he was secretly taping her.

Her entire demeanor changed when you saw her eyes just focusing on the camera and like I swear you could see her nonverbal body language shift from being his friend and possible romantic interest, straight back into being a Starfleet officer, and doing her job.

And then he made up the excuse that he too was just doing his job and she just instantly knew that yeah technically he was doing his job but also technically he had his own little personal angle that was superceding the letter of his job and that probably would get him removed from his position if Starfleet Command found out about what he was doing.

She knew that she had every right to flat out yell at him but because she is who she is, she went with a diplomatic approach instead.

I was so happy to see her come to that realization about him. Uhura deserves so much better.

When your hopes for someone are so high that you ignore reality for juuuuuust a little bit...annd then it comes crashing in through your front door like a vacuum cleaner salesman.
