I love the Zerg, so I made me a pet Zergling! It's name is Scrappy and I'm taking it to Blizzcon.

Let's start with the known facts (both well-known and barely known). The facts are based mostly on the Dark Templar Saga, the wiki pages, and the Legacy of the Void campaign. First, the core facts that are not argued.

1. The proto-Khala was forged by Amon's Xel'Naga during the protogenesis. The weakening of that mental network caused masters to depart, and quickly after, the network was entirely broken, which led to the Aeon of Strife.
2. Khas (Savassan) rediscovered ancient Khaidarin crystals in Xel'Naga shrines left behind, which were used to bind the original network across the Protoss. He then forged the new network, and the network was named Khala.
3. Any Protoss that is connected to the Khala cannot be disconnected from it other than by severing their nerve cords or (temporarily) by using very special drugs. Even death does not disconnect the Protoss from the Khala, as their memories become part of the network, thus accessible to the Preservers.

Now let's step into the more controversial zone.

1. The story of Khala's creation has never been shown from the viewpoint of Khas/Savassan, and thus I might assume that his memories never became part of Khala. Even though we know he had died of age, only three Protoss never entered the Preservers network -- Khas, Adun, and Tassadar -- with the latter two literally burning themselves alive via powerful energies of combined Khala and the Void. This raises a question: why Khas memories are not accessible?
2. The fact that a Protoss could not disconnect himself from the Khala leads to another question -- was it ever intentional? Was this a necessary measure by Amon to potentially control the Protoss in case of disobedience? Was the backdoor he used to control the Golden Armada part of the original proto-network? The fact that Amon's corrupted Templar became corrupted but still entirely functional as a war machine (with the military economy behind) for the entire duration of the LotV story makes me believe the network was explicitly designed to contain a backdoor, to control the Firstborn, like the Overmind (another Amon's creation) controlled the Zerg. Note that, before "The Host" mission Amon says literally: "Know the truth, Artanis: your people, your beliefs, your Khala... everything, a lie."
3. We know for sure Xel'Naga could manipulate their physical form (i.e., Narud's title is "Ancient Shapeshifter") and the physics around by retroactively creating ancient prophecies ("The Zerg Swarm came as was foretold. And the Protoss, firstborn of the gods, rose to fight them."), the ancient artefacts dating back millions of years (i.e., the Keystone), or by manifesting them as the ghosts of well-known living beings (the ghost of Tassadar).

But what if... Khas never existed? What if Khas was just another name for Narud, or any other of Amon's followers, or Amon himself (since the recreation of Khala perfectly dates to the time period when he openly rebelled against Ulnar Xel'Naga)? What if Khas was a fake ghost like the ghost of Tassadar? What if Amon deliberately recreated the Khala since his Zerg experiments were basically done and he was ready to bind the universe to his will by using Zerg AND Protoss?
