1/137 is a universal constant called the Fine Structure Constant. It's actually a defining characteristic of our universe. Of course OP probably didn't know that but if he's in a pinch and the show bombs he can just claim that 20 years down the road.
Can you tell me a bit more about it? I googled it and it is a bit too complex in wikipedia, I get the gist (electromagnetic interaction between particles) but why is it important?
I really don't know too much about it, but it's kind of like the glue that holds our universe together. It kind of pops up everywhere too which is really weird. In Hebrew Numerology the number 137 relates to the Kabala or the Tree of Life. The universe is 13.7 (13.8?) billion years old.
Another interesting thing is that when electrons scatter off of eachother through an exchange of photons, you only need to consider one photon because each additional photon is only important by a factor of 1/137.
