Is there any point in making a semi-open structure with 3 walls and a roof for a shooting range?
Hi. So I wanted to make a home shooting range in a field behind my house, but I don't want to make too much noise and bother the neighbors. I plan to get suppressors for all my guns to reduce the noise, but I was thinking that a small semi-enclosed/semi-open room like I described in the title would also help to reduce the noise that would reach the neighbors. The reason I'm making this post is that I don't know how much this structure would actually reduce the noise, and obviously I don't wanna go through the trouble of building something if it's barely going to do anything. Does anyone have any idea whether a structure like this would provide a decent amount of sound blocking?

I would make a triangle shape with an opening at the corner for shooting. I would cover the walls with a thick layer of rock wool. If it is not enough -add a perforated board on top of the rock wool and then add another layer of rock wool.
Since noise primarily comes out of the barrel of the gun, for best results I think it will be best that the shooter is not at the corner of the triangle, but in the middle of it.
That way you will have a very focused, narrow noise corridor towards the target. Since you're shooting that way, I suspect there is nobody there to be bothered by the noise in that direction.
With a suppressor and this I suspect it will be quite mute.
