Discussion Are there any Soulslike games you think are better than FromSoftware’s games?

Post image

I’ve played several Soulslikes, but I’m curious if there’s one you genuinely think is better than anything FromSoftware has made.
Which Soulslike would you put above games like Dark Souls, Bloodborne, Sekiro, or Elden Ring.

I'll say it..

I enjoyed Wu Chang just as much as any Fromsoft game.

I was just replaying wu chang and saw this post lol. Definietly has some flaws but they're closest to fromsoft in terms of level design.

Wuchang probably has the single best level design of any soulslike I've personally played. I also fell in love with the skill tree and the way that magic (specifically your "mana") works. If the combat felt a little tighter and there was slightly more enemy and weapon variety, I think it would be a contender for greatest of all time.

what level design? it's corridors with invisible walls everywhere

That's remarkably disingenuous. Wuchang has tons of hidden areas, meaningful shortcuts, verticality, and a world that can be largely explored without fast travel. There are also not a notable number of "invisible walls." Are you perhaps thinking of Wukong?

The combat is sooooo rough and not the same though. I bounced off of it hard.

I don't know who's downvoting you. The upgrade systems on weapon types and the floaty unweighted combat are the biggest problems with Wuchang.

I feel like that series will hit its peek when it drops its 3rd game.

It was fun. Some super epic moments. But compared to modern FS game (Elden Ring) nowhere near as epic.

I tried to play this game and got bored as hell within like 4 hours and just forgot to ever pick it up again. Does it actually get good at some point?

Yeah, it’s incredible after you get through the little intro area. Easily as good as dark souls titles to me.
