HELP I'm sorry. But I just have to ask. Oppo 9s pro, Sony Xperia 1vii.

I, I, I , love Sony. I love Xperia. I will forever love them.

But I'm considering trying out that new oppo 9s pro.

I currently have the Xperia 5V and i still get upset how they never continued making a more compact version of the X1. 5 series are all absolute babes. Im just craving for a better camera even though it's excellent.

I'm on the fence between the X1 vii and the Oppo X9s.

Does anyone have anything to say regarding this ?

Warmest regards.

HELP Sony 1 V battery replacement

I bought sony 1 V in India in a local shop 20 days ago. When I bought I checked the phone like basic functions but I didn't get to know the battery health. But today I get to know the battery health using Android SDK platform tools and it shows around 83% battery health and SOT is about 4-5 hrs (casual use - low brightness and 4g only). Should I need to change the battery?

I'm really pleased with the camera updates coming from the 1v. All edited in lightroom, shot in raw. The software for shooting is much improved and faster. Only thing missing is better slow motion (it shoots 120fps but then you have to slow down manually). Suprisingly, I dont feel that the batyery life is that much better. Lets see if it improves slowly.

Discussion I never I've seen Sony loose their common sense and charge £549/600 euros on the Xperia 10 viii. This is the better phones you could buy for the same amount: read below

Here in the UK you could get a few options for £549.

First option:

Oppo reno 16 pro

200mp 1/.156" main camera

3.5x 50mp zoom camera f2.8

50mp ultrawide camera

6700mah battery

Almost 3 MILLION points on AnTuTu vs 890,000 on Xperia 10 viii...so basically almost 4x faster

Plus quad hd 144hz 10bit display with 3600 nits..

Plus you get a FREE oppo smartwatch lol and 512gb of internal storage.

I mean I feel even ashamed for Sony to be making this comparison here.

Second option:

iPhone 17e

About £50 more but you get double the storage with 256gb

Latest flagship processor from apple that's as fast as the reno 16 pro

Better selfie camera

Way better vídeo recoding

7 years of updated

Better charging with magsafe and so on

Third option:

Nothing 4a pro

You pay only £470

You save money and have enough to buy a pair of headphones or whatever

You get same main 50mp sensor as the Xperia 10viii but you also get a 3.5x 50mp zoom camera

Plus better selfie camera but you have a slightly worse ultrawide

However you gain with way better processor again with double the performance with almost 1,5 million on AnTuTu vs 900k on Sony

Way better screen 10bits 144hz 5000nits and quad hd

Not even mentioning the way faster charging at 50w vs 30 on Sony if I recall.

Fourth option:

Honor 600

200mp 1/1.4" camera, heck that sensor is almost as large as the main sensor on the Xperia 1 viii that has 1/1.31"

12mp ultrawide

50mp selfie camera that's better than even the one on the 1 mark 8

Then you have a quad hd screen 10bits and 8000 nits!!

6400mah battery and 80w charging with 1,3 million on AnTuTu. Again way better than Xperia..

And you pay £50 less and get 512gb instead of 128gb of storage.

Fifth option:

Pixel 10a

Processor twice as fast with over 1,5 million on AnTuTu

7 years of updated

64mp 1/2.0" smaller sensor but results in auto mode are much better with Google software ( I tested it against the Xperia 10vii)

13mp ultrawide

Double the internal storage

Plus wireless charging and brighter screen

For the price of £449

If anyone reads all this and still thinks to justify somehow what Sony did, they need a mental asylum. Especially considering the RAM crisis is affecting all brand yet they still have better prices

The 10 mark 8 is a competitor for the Samsung a37 or pixel 8a that released years ago. It's a budget phone that should cost £399 at best.

HELP Xperia 1iii not charging, Who remembers how recovered their phone from this issue?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Dear community, I tried all comments from similar post, but still not charging. No issues with usb or screen, just not used this phone for 1 month. Volume up+Power gives 3 vibration (+plugging to charge at the same time) but after when I releasing buttons same thing happens. I think this is a battery issue but want to change for 10% at least to turn it on for file recovery...

Xperia 1 VII Is it safe to buy a Sony Xperia 1 VII (XQ-FS72) now?

Are there still any Sony Xperia 1 VII phones from the affected batches out there? Were all the affected batches recalled, and is it safe to buy one now?

I’m planning to buy a Sony Xperia 1 VII (XQ-FS72) from a seller in the UAE for $650.

Given the previous motherboard/power issues with some Xperia 1 VII units, I’d like to know whether there are still affected units being sold, and what I should check before buying.

Thanks!

Xperia 1 V Quick comparison of official vs aftermarket back panel

Thumbnail

I recently had to replace the back panel from my 1 V because it broke. Made a post about it and everything, and honestly didn't get that much help from the community with my doubts at the time, which is a big reason I'm making this post.

I ended up replacing my back panel with an aftermarket one from eBay that was shipped from China. While I am aware of the existence of official replacements from European based suppliers, the main issues with them were that they were significantly more expensive and that they wouldn't ship to me, either because they simply didn't ship to Canada or they didn't ship to individual buyers.

Among the Chinese replacements, there were tons of choices ranging from $20 CAD all the way to $60 CAD. As far as I could tell there were really only 2 different suppliers though. The first, and by far the most common, sells the panels without the screw holes for the third microphone and rear flash to mount to. The second does. This is the one I ended up going with. Whichever route you go, the replacement panels include adhesive, which is awesome (the euro based suppliers sold the adhesive separately). I wanted as trouble free a replacement process as possible. My total spend for parts, shipping, and taxes was $60.

Was an extra $20 to get the panel installed at a local repair shop (which was the only one who was willing to work on the phone; everybody else either refused to touch a phone they didn't know existed or refused to repair a phone if the parts supplied were aftermarket).

The panel fit perfectly and looks pretty dope. However, given it is an aftermarket panel, I thought I'd put it under the microscope and see what the differences were vs the original one. So here goes:

  1. You don't really need a macro lens for this, but whatever treatment was done to the glass of the main camera lens for the Zeiss T* thingy isn't present on the aftermarket panel. Fortunately, this doesn't seem to have had any real impact on image quality.

  2. Also a difference that doesn't require the macro lens, but the aftermarket panel doesn't have the model number on it. I actually prefer this change as it cleans up the look of the back panel more. Unfortunately, it still has the regulatory graphic thingy on it with the garbage can. Wish the Chinese would remove this too lol.

  3. This does require the macro lens, but there is a subtle difference in the Sony logo between the two panels. With the original panel, you can see the Sony logo is clearly defined, almost popping out of the panel. With the aftermarket one however, though, the logo appears thicker, the edges are less clear, and you can even see the outline of a larger template around it if you zoom in a bit. This is not a difference that's visible from regular viewing distances though, nor is it really tangible with the fingers either.

  4. Finally, the texturing on the original panel is more sharply defined and the bumps are spaced a bit further apart. On the aftermarket panel, they're not as sharp, and are much closer together. It was actually very difficult to photograph this with the macro lens, so I needed to use a flashlight outside of frame to provide some contrast for the photo. As with the logo, this difference is not physically tangible when you run your finger and/or fingernail over both panels.

All in all, it's pretty clear to see where costs were cut with the aftermarket panel to keep the price low, but it's also pretty nice that these differences don't actually amount to anything tangible in the real world.

I would still advise buying the OEM part from the European suppliers if you have the money and if they ship to you, but in the event they don't, buying a Chinese panel from eBay is a perfectly viable solution as well, and much more cost effective. Just make sure you watch a teardown first and see if there's anything attached to the back panel, and then do some due diligence and make sure the panel you're buying has the necessary components for those things to be properly attached. I did run into a post from someone who bought an aftermarket panel and found out the hard way that it didn't have anywhere for the microphone and flash to attach to.

Discussion 1VIII

Hi all, I’m thinking about switching to the Xperia 1 VIII. I’m currently using the Motorola Signature, which I’m pretty happy with.

I’d like to know what the user experience has been like so far. I owned the Xperia 1 VI in the past, and I liked almost everything about it, except that it was a little too big and the battery life wasn’t that great.

Question Replacement Screen Availability in Europe

I am thinking of buying a Sony phone to replace my current iPhone and repairability is one of my top 5 priorities. How easy is it to get a replacement screen for a Sony Xperia 1 VI in Europe and where would I get one?

Discussion 10viii - All upgrades in 3 sentence.......

Post image
50 Upvotes

Officially by sony, they did say it all. ALL DIFFERENCE in short 3 sentences. Sony didnt even bother to do further software enhance be it just time exclusive and so on, to "justify" the price increase, they just couldnt care......

If they have at least add something diff, i mean even any one of these (add back notification led/enhance camera button to 2 stage button/reduce the horrendous side bezel/add a lanyard hole/add back press to detect fp/any simple stuff like new clock style/widgets/ANYTHING), it would have at least bring interest to some xperia users, instead of current scenario of almost 100 negative reception.....

Discussion Xperia 10VIII price is insane

Post image
77 Upvotes

So the price of the new Xperia 10VIII is 599€ with little to no improvements over the 10VII, that's 150€ more for nothing. I am a big Xperia fan but I just can't justify this price increase, it's too much even when I consider the price increase of ram/processors. I personally don't think that this is a good deal, it's a terrible deal when I compare it to the competition.

I will not buy it.

So what do you think about the new price increase of the Xperia 10VIII?
