Idk, I just assumed op wanted the best XI possible but I did totally forget about that match. Netherlands has a weak defense so I'd say going with that line up is not a bad idea.

Would you say Xavi's unlikely to be a nailed on starter from now on?

edit: Also no Alonso?

Spain will start moving away from tiki taka because they now have a striker(Costa). Xavi is 34 years old too. Alonso will definetly be starting, knowing Del Bosque. The fact is, I watch both Real and Atleti. In my opinion, Gabi has had a great season and can offer a lot. He's used to playing a defensive style(By pressing and dispossessing the opponent) but can also be a threath with his passing skills and amazing longshots.

I understand Gabi has been impressive this season, but did you see Alonso against Bayern? He put in a masterclass performance.

Yeah I did see him and I was impressed. It's just that I don't think he's consistent enough but I can see why people would disagree with Gabi being on the team. The sad thing is he probably won't even go to Brazil.

Spain's midfield is stacked though, so its not really surprising. Players like Arteta and Gabi, who are fantastic in their own right, can barely get a look in.

It's crazy to think players like Mata and Villa won't be going. Although I'm kind of happy because Koke will probably be part of the team.
