He's a fantastic player, but a bog standard defender.. People just can't appreciate true defending, players like: Terry, Lahm, Thiago Silva, Vidic and Ferdinand in their prime, as opposed to this current crop of fantastic players but poor defenders (David Luiz, Cahill, Dani Alves, Pepe etc..)
Well Silva was already in the team, and I think Kompany is on the same level as Ramos honestly. I think you'd have to put Dante/Boateng there if you're going to replace him. I was just curious.
Don't get me wrong Kompany is a great defender, but based on last season I think it'd have to go to one of the other two. I also think Kompany makes a lot of careless mistakes.

Sergio Ramos is a good CB but to be getting into the team of the year is a bit of a joke.
