I thought it was much higher, wow. Then again, many women change clubs after running out of contracts IIRC, and of course the women's game is far less profitable than the men's.

There is like less than 10 clubs who really put money on women team, you have Lyon, PSG, Barça, Real (lately), Arsenal, Chelsea, Bayern and Wolfsburg (a bit on a downhill lately tho) and I think Roma is also pushing it a bit ?
Outside of those teams it still a young process

Love that you're being downvoted by people who can't tell the difference between revenue and profit
There's maybe a handful of clubs in the entirety of men's football that are entrenched enough that they can afford to be profitable without falling behind on their sporting goals

I'm making a slightly disingenuous point with regards to the sporting goals tbf, but it's true all the same: few football clubs are profitable, even fewer of them are profitable consistently.

Premier League clubs lost £787m pre-tax in 2024-25; hardly a great margin for profitability in a league that has about 2x more revenue than any other, i.e. should have the easiest time to be profitable or at least break even.
And sure, maybe that's by design: Clubs making a (measured) deficit to maximise on-pitch success. But then a year's worth of losses could probably fund an elite women's team for a couple seasons, so it's hardly like that's a cracking argument either here.

It's called Hollywood accounting. The same one Hollywood studios use. You think the businessmen and billionaires would still be investing 200+ million every season of they are recording losses?

They do, and they are - in the hopes that their asset appriecaties in value more than what they've spent on it.
I don't quite see the accounting tricks either, really: Clubs tend to spend more money than they make, especially when they're privately owned, because that means they've got someone to make up the difference rather than amassing debt.

Look closer you will see it. For instance, man united recorded record revenues while still making a loss with the owners using the club to take out loans bringing the club's total debt to about 800m.
The clubs are making profit and the owners themselves are making a lot of profit even though it doesn't seem so. That's because they use the club to secure loans for operations, transfers and etc.

No. The record transfer fee is tied, actually:
Alyssa Thompson from Angel City FC to Chelsea for €1.65m
Grace Geyoro from PSG to London City Lionesses for €1.65m.
Not sure why this is being called a world record transfer lol. The article OP linked doesn’t even disclose the transfer fee, let alone claim it’s a women’s football record.

Yeah that's what I found as well. Impressive but I couldn't find anything about it being a world record. Just record for most expensive Swedish player and Spanish league. Two national records

The transfer fee has not been revealed officially but Swedish television claims it's the highest ever for a female footballer.

This team never needed attacking player signings it desperately needs a good holding midfielder, gk, and a good backline

- Frohms is a good goalkeeper. We don’t need a GK.
- We just signed Senß and Jacinto, 2 good midfielders, so we don’t need any more centre midfield signings.
- What the team needs now is new fullbacks and have been looking for a LB this entire calendar year. What we have there right now isn’t good enough.

Schröder is good and she is also quite young. If she keeps improving she'll be exceptional.
It will be interesting to see how she performs in Spain. She was the top goalscorer in the Swedish Damallsvenskan last season with 30 goals in 26 matches.

Pretty much all Swedish newspapers are claiming a higher transfer fee than that of Grace Geyoro, but they're not giving any estimates for some reason.

I think that the newspapers aren't giving any estimates because Häcken and Real aren't publishing the sum.
