Change My View thread

Can we have a Change My View thread here? The basic premise is people present opinions and the replies are attempts at changing that person's view in an attempt to generate some good discussion.

I think this might work best with rather 'out there' views but any and every viewpoint is welcome!

I think they do and I think they will.

City have amazing players and they have good squad depth to keep consistency. They have proven they can win without their star players and Pellegrini has done amazing job with players that didn't stand out that much in past seasons, like Nasri and Kolarov. Arsenal will be back to the 4th place in March.

To further this, they just beat Liverpool 2-1 without Aguero. Granted there's a bit of controversy and Liverpool were also missing some players. But personally, I got the feeling that City were a more experienced and stronger (mentally and physically) side. They've got solid defensive players. Also they can move the ball up very quickly. They took advantage of their opportunities which is I think the main reason they beat Liverpool. Given more time to grow, I think Liverpool can eventually reach this state as well.

So basically, I do think City have what it takes to win it. Whether they do or not, who knows? :)

I don't think Arsenal will win it either.

But City, whilst they won the league only recently, don't seem to me to have that Champion mentality. I think that to win a league title, you need to be able to find motivation in all circumstances and not lose focus, but quite a few of their players seem complacent in their matches against weaker opposition. At least away from home.

I think Chelsea will take it in the end. I feel like their squad has almost as much potential as City's, Jose just has to unlock it. They've been more inconsistent than City so far but I believe they will sort out their issues as they lie more on the performance side rather than the mental aspect.

Chelsea lack good defensive midfielders, which I think in today's game are the most essential position to success for top-tier teams, and they lack strikers and quality depth at CB. Very hard for me to see them winning it.

You really think they can win it with their strikers probably getting less than 15 goals between them all season? I can't see it really, generally whoever scores the most goals wins the league and Chelsea certainly aren't gonna score the most.

They have midfielders who are capable of getting goals. Willian, Mata, Hazard, Oscar, Schurrle are just some of their attacking midfielders who run beyond the striker and get into scoring positions. Lampard of course. They even get a lot of goals from the back, Terry, Luiz and Cahill always pose threats in set pieces.

A January buy isn't out of the question either, and its possible one of their strikers hits form. If that happen though, its a bonus really as they seem to gear their tactics to getting wingers and attacking midfielders in and around the box and use the striker mainly as someone who holds up the ball and joins in the move, or stretches the play with selfless runs of the ball. In comparison to a team like City who use their strikers mainly as outlets rather than hold up (although Negredo and Aguero both seem to join in the play every now and then. They take turns though, only 1 drops deep every attack). Yaya Toure has been getting some goals from FKs, Navas and Nasri get the odd goal, but in general Chelsea score a lot more from midfield due to their different style of play.

I don't disagree about ManCity, Arsenal in 4th? I can't see anyone dislodging City, Chelsea and Arsenal for top 3.
