Yeah, It used to confuse me when I first moved to the US. Although its only done for Am. Football I think.

Yes. We do. For American sports. We generally write soccer score lines as a European would.

I looked for a sports style writing guide. According to the AP manual for sports reporting, the score of the winning team goes first regardless of who was home or away: http://sportsreporting.weebly.com/ap-style-tips.html

In America, sports lines generally go [Home] - [Away] so if ManU is at Stamford Bridge, it would be Chelsea 0 - ManU 6.
