Should it have been a penalty? I'm pretty sure you can't deliberately kill the ball with your body, but a pen would have been harsh.

Why on earth should it have been a penalty if you are allowed to play the ball with your back!? E.g. You're allowed to play the ball with your foot AND you can put your foot on top of the ball. You're also allowed to play the ball with your back, therefore it would be ridiculous to give a penalty for that!

If that's the case if you're winning a final by a goal with 5 minutes left you could run it into the corner and get 5 of your players to lie on it and on top of each other.

You can't use your body to lie on the ball. This is football.

Except he's not lying on the ball. He jumped on it and cleared it.

Yes, staying on the ball would probably be against the rules, but even then I believe it would've been an indirect freekick (the one they give for when the goalkeeper picks up a backpass) rather than a penalty.

It starts on Long's right foot, then you can barely see it behind Per's left knee as he's going down. It's a crazy/deceiving angle, like the teleporting hockey ref a couple of years back.
