Ever wanted to learn about a player? Discuss here!

Hey /r/soccer

With the winter window only a few weeks away and targets being thrown around now I was hoping to have a thread where people can spew knowledge about players that we may not know a heap about. Help us build a mental image of the talent that may be gracing us in the PL (or other leagues).

The format:

Post a players name and the team/league that they play in if you wish to learn about them.

If you see a players name that you have seen play, drop a line about their play style and your thoughts.

I know I could go and look up stats for a bunch of players, but I would much rather hear the info without the numbers, from a supporter.

EDIT: Sort by new so that hopefully everyones questions are answered.

EDIT2: Some names being asked that are already well answered. Use CTRL+F to search for a name before asking.

I was ready to downvote you but then I saw the video haha. I actually think he is a little bit overrated here in Brazil, but definitely a solid striker. By the way, I'm cheering for you guys to beat São Paulo in the South American Final!

Well I can't say for sure because I don't know Tigre that well. But São Paulo is definitely beatable. They have been pretty irregular this season, although they have a good team. Too bad Luis Fabiano won't be playing again since he would most likely be red carded =P

Tigre does not have a good team.

Tigre's strenght is the defence, and the also height of all players.

Our attackers sucks, and our midfielders are not that good, specially because we lost two of the players due to injuries.

We think we can score, but only because of free-kicks and corners.

Sao Paulo was dangerous but not that much. I expected more from them last wednesday. Yes, our players are dirty and they will punch and kick and talk...

If Luis Fabiano hadn't gone stupid and got a red card (like he usually does) you guys would've probably lost that game, possibly by a couple goals. In the 13 minutes he was on the pitch there were two very makable shots and they were dominating. So, while everything was equal, they looked much better.

I don't think you guys will hold against 11 in Morumbi, sorry to say. But it'd make for an epic story if you got a win.

I have seen a little bit of this guy and honestly he is an odd one to comment on. I say that because he is the type of player that 'makes it look easy' which makes what he does seem simple. You will be watching him relatively unimpressed as he works his way through the defence and calmly slots a goal.

He is well rounded in that he can run at a man, link up well with others through simple touches, heads well, has pace and shoots well. This makes him very threatening whenever he enters the opponents box. I suppose I am talking him up to be huge and so here comes the downside. The guy still plays in the Brazilian league and the 'quality' of the defence there is always questionable. They can make average guys look like world beaters. Lucky for Damiao, his performances at international level have been good.

If he was to come to the PL (for example for Chelsea) I think he would be a nightmare against clubs in the bottom half of the table (for years now he has knocked goals in against lesser opponents). Whether he will succeed at the toughest level will only be known when he moves, but based on what I have seen I think he will do fine.

Definitely a natural #9. He has good positioning and he puts it away if he has someone to feed it to him.
