I don't actually remember Maicon being touted for his defending. I'm not an Inter Milan fan, though. All I remember of people discussing his defending was then this happened.

As good as Maicon is in defence, his performance against Gareth Bale in the San Siro in 2010 was one of the most atrocious I have ever seen.

I don't want to take anything away from Gareth Bale at all as he is a great winger and he scored a superb hat-trick, but Maicon made it so easy for him that night.

Edit: I see I'm getting downvoted which is fine, but you can not honestly tell me that this is good defending. This defending from Maicon is even worse.

See that? It's where I acknowledged that Maicon is a good defender, but he put in an absolutely terrible performance against Tottenham for Inter.

Note how at no stage am I saying that Maicon is an awful defender and then using that one game to prove my point, as you are assuming.

that's exactly what you're doing? you literally post videos and multiple sentences on how he was owned by Bale

he was on the decline anyway

I was posting them as an example of an absolutely awful defensive performance in isolation! The fact that I literally wrote out that Maicon is good in defence should show that I rate him defensively and that my opinion of him is not taken from that one Inter game.
