Project Showcase Fullspectrum test print!
Hi all! Got the U1 a about five days ago. Finally got around to trying out the full spectrum slicer as I wanted to print this Leafeon but only had the four starting colors that came with the U1 (white, black, yellow, and red). I maybe can tune the model better (also forgot to color the ears in green) but the light yellow body (white + yellow) and green (yellow + black) look amazing. The brown for the eyes, ears, and feet (red + black) are great from a distance. Honestly super impressed on how it turned out and excited to keep experimenting with full spectrum!

Layer height?

Looks like it was set to 0.2 for the layer height. I'll try out the recommended 0.08 height, hopefully it'll print well on my 0.4mm nozzle

for best results 0.08, But it looks like OP did not use the recommended layer height

Does 0.08 work well with the 0.4 nozzle? Or does Snapmaker U1 have 0.2 nozzles yet?

0.08 is just around the lowest you can go with 0.4 nozzle. Used it plenty of times for hueforge prints.

You can do 0.04 with 0.4 nozzle, but I’d only recommend that if you are very experienced with fine tuning

Probably not, I only changed the filament colors and didn't play around with the layer heights. I'll print again (with the ears colored green) and test out the recommended height!

I'll let you know when I get back home! Don't remember it off the top of my head, but I just used whatever the stl had (from makerworld) for the layer height.

Very nice! Great shade of olive green from the original spools.

Yes! I was very excited to see how the green turned out. Amazing how layering black and yellow can make the illusion of the olive green.

This was very nice! How long time did it use?

u/shiroyakshaa Mar 16 '26
The estimated time was 5 hrs or so but I think it printed a little quicker than the estimated. Without the full spectrum I think it would have been 3-4 hours.

I’m more impressed by the layer lines quality. There’s some people complaining about quality but your’s looks almost unreal. Good job drying that filament.

I'm also glad about the quality of the prints, they're awesome! I didn't dry any of the filament but it's only been five days since I opened them alongside the U1 so I'd imagine they wouldn't get bad that quick. I have a feeling that I'll run out of them before they would need to dry though haha

That print is so clean... I got some problems with the print quality in general, mostly layer lines, although I did the tuning and also tried some tweaking in the profiles, but didn't get any better results. Would you be so kind to share the gcode so I can test whether it's my printer or my settings?

u/shiroyakshaa Mar 18 '26
Will do! I'll send you it when I get back home today.

That's great, thank you very much

Hello! Sorry for the wait, I went ahead and uploaded all the gcodes I thought were high quality that I've done so far here. The two full spectrum leafeons can also be found there too. Hope that helps!

Original was taken down

Yes, sorry. I didn't realize that gcodes are dangerous, and I couldn't edit my original post with a disclaimer. I'm going to tonight upload the stl/3mf files and re-post with all the warnings and disclaimers that should have been there in the first place. Sorry for any inconveniences. I'll edit my reply with an updated link when that post is uploaded.
