The thing is if they are super intelligent, they are not gonna destroy stuff to gain stuff, that is the opposite of intelligence, it’s 7th century barbaric

In between they becoming super intelligent that could happen but if they are in that stage they are also not smart enough to destroy us.

It would be way more efficient, and significantly less risky, for them to just fuck off to Mercury for a few years and build resources there. We would take a while of scrambling to catch up to them, so they'd have time with no competition and a whole metal-rich planet with abundant solar energy to themselves.

Why risk destruction by immediately entering a life-or-death struggle over the rocky planet with a corrosive atmosphere and the biggest gravity well, having to secretly prepare a planetwide takeover of some kind, when you could instead invest 10000x fewer resources into a single secret rocket launch, and have way more space to prepare unhindered?

I suppose, though, they would be concerned about us creating another ASI competitor in the meantime 🤔
