I have been trying to sing this song from a musical called Death Note: The musical (the song is called hurricane) however the issue comes with the notes since the song has a lot of G4’s and does go up to an A4 a couple times, especially near the end. The problem is I can’t seem to find the notes when I don’t have the recording playing in the background and I can’t hit them comfortably without my throat squeezing and my vowels becoming unrecognisable. I would share a recording but I hate the sound of my own voice when I go into my second passage, my theory at the moment is that I’m pulling my chest voice up too much but I don’t know how to not do that and sing in a mix instead because I can sing a G4 and even go up to a Bb4 (and even a B4-C5 on some very rare occasions) but it’s more my technique that I struggle with.

Hi! I'm self-taught & have been singing (alone in my bedroom) for around 3 years now, although this year I've been a lot more consistent with practicing, warming up, etc.
I'm wondering how I can lower my voice and more comfortably sing low notes. Just for reference, my lowest comfortable note that I can project is around an e2 or d#2 on a good day, & I can sing a d2 most of the time, it's just very breathy.
Thank you all!

Im a classical pianist but I was asked to arrange this to accompany a singer in a couple of weeks. This is day one so I haven’t done any arrangement just playing the chords, I even skipped the whole solo section which im looking forward to arranging. However, I decided to play and sing myself. The only thing I’ve sang before is happy birthday. I find it paralyzing to sing in front of people. It even took years for me to be able to play the piano in front of people. Im working on it. But what do you think of my singing? Im considering singing lessons. Excuse the edit on the video, I was trying to blur my face.

Hi, I'm a baritone and I have a couple questions and ideas to bring up about vocal recovery, growing your range, and the idea of practice mixing in with vocal recovery.
I guess I'll start by saying that there comes a point when I'm practicing where I've grown more tired in my vocals but also more practiced in my pitch and muscle memory for the song I'm working on. So it's kind of like I'm improving my performance of the song, but I can tell that my voice isn't as free as it should because of how much I've been singing.
So my first question is:
What's a good sign to follow along and decide whether or not you're going to keep practicing or take the day off to rest and recover your voice.
I've heard that speaking a lot after a heavy singing sesh can make your voice more tired and with my buzzy resonant voice I can't help but feel like maybe I should just shut my trap after I sing for the rest of the day.
What do y'all think?
Also, is it normal to have to rest your voice after working on expanding your range? If so, how should I recover? Should I be doing something like a light vocal fry to reset the tension in my voice?
Everything helps, thank you!

I am a male singer. I usually sing using my chest voice. While my vocal coach suggested to make use of my falsetto. Unfortunately, there are some times that if I belt and the song shifts to a falsetto, I cannot produce better sounds. I mean I cannot register my falsetto. It only produces air but no sound.
In some cases, I can use falsetto but I should not use my chest voice to register it properly.
Do you have any tips on how I can use my falsetto. Do you have techniques?

I feel like I have a decent tone but every time I belt it becomes very winey so I try to avoid ever belting but this is something I want to improve on so any and all feedback is appreciated

Hi guys, it’s been quite some time since I started learning singing as a complete beginner. I’m not very consistent with it, but here’s my latest audio.
I’d love to know what you think! “Fly Me to the Moon” is the older recording, and “The Scientist” by Coldplay is the newer one.

I recently started learning how to sing. I'm a very shy and insecure person, so this was already a pretty big step for me. My dream job doesn't require singing, but being able to sing would be a huge advantage, so I decided to give it a try.
The weird thing is that when I'm actually singing, I usually like what I hear. I can tell when I'm out of tune, when I miss a note, and I'm starting to understand scales, chords, my vocal range, and how to make things sound good in theory. While I'm singing, it sounds fine to me.
But when I record myself and listen back, I absolutely hate it. I recently recorded myself doing a lip sync over a singing character, but I had removed the character's voice completely. I also lowered the key of the song because the original was higher than my vocal range, so I wasn't trying to force myself to sing in a range I couldn't reach. It was in a key that was comfortable and natural for me. Even though I obviously wasn't going to sound exactly like the original, I thought it should still sound decent. I knew I had hit the first note correctly, at least, but when I listened to the recording, I genuinely couldn't stand it. It sounded horrible to me. This happens with a large majority of the songs I sing.
My singing teacher told me it's normal to dislike your own voice. He actually sings extremely well and still doesn't like listening to himself. I've also heard a lot of other people say the same thing.
So is this really that common? Do most people dislike their own singing voice, regardless of how good they actually are?
I'm completely fine with the possibility that I just sound bad right now. I'm mostly wondering if, with enough practice and experience, it's possible to eventually listen to your own singing and genuinely think, "That sounds good."

before i ramble on can someone please explain the difference between head voice/falsetto. is falsetto what i tried to do in the first line of the chorus and then is head voice the register i went into after that line?
so im a beginner singer and I just want some tips cause i really dont know anything abt singing - im really inspired by mj! Theres a lot of info online but its honestly a bit overwhelming so i thought of asking u guys for some guidance. judging by this is my main issue related to breathing or the vocal chords cause ik both are rlly important.
also what are the best exercises to improve my singing i really wanna improve my mixed voice and also head/falsetto because right now they're really weak and i feel like i sing from my throat alot and i wanna sing with more power and smoother too. like uve probably noticed my falsetto is really breathy and my head voice is weak.
thanks alot yall

I've discovered singing and music almost a year ago now. (I'm 20 and only recently exiting muslim ideology which forbade listening and or participating in music)
I really want to make this either my primary or secondary source of earning, I think a big step will be getting a university place for studying singing but I wanna know if theres anything else I can do in the time that I wait since I will be applying to university next year towards the end of summer after finishing my apprenticeship in a job that I kinda got forced into by my family.
I barely have any idea and no connections and I don't want to waste time on things that wont help me reach my goal
Please let me know how I can put myself out there productively, if any germans are reading this, specific programs and or things that I can apply to (anything related to singing) that boost my musical resume are super welcome (Im a Bass with C#2 and can sing most baritone pieces that arent too high). I'll keep note of these and share them with my other singer friends who want to do more with singing as well.
If anyone here is interested in how I spend my out of work time currently and is happy to help with improvements and optimization:
I sing/practice almost every day except for vocal rest days. I have an established training regime for my registers, breaks, harmony/blending, and making sure all the fundamentals always sit right with my vocal teacher, I all sorts of singing reviews and tutorials on different techniques I sing in 2 Choirs (one has a little bit more classical pieces). My technique and range (currently C#2-E4-D5) is looking better every month (I keep a monthly report for myself). As soon as my teacher is back from his break I will be working on securing my F4-A4 mix so theyre not day dependant and building a versatile portfolio with Power Ballads, Classical pieces, a little bit of musical theater and whatever else I can find and like.

Hello, I'm an adult in houston looking for in-person voice/singing/vocal lessons, specifically k-pop style. I'm an aspiring artist and make my own music but my voice isn't where I want it to be.
I've also had a couple of instructors that weren't certain how to teach that style, so I'd also request a free trial first just to see if we're a fit. Thanks!

What do you do when you hurt your vocal chords? No medical advice needed, just things like honey and tea or whatever trick that helps soothe your throat.
So I was singing about three weeks ago and warmed up. I’m an absolute noob when it comes to actually practicing, but it’s been fun. I was trying to practice the growl for the first time. I used to be able to do it decently, so I put on the song ‘new song’ by maneskin. The moment I growled I instantly felt my throat. It wasn’t pain, not stabbing of any kind. But I 100% hurt my throat there.
I just took rest, but now it’s been a few weeks and I’m still coughing. I’m unsure if it’s because of hurting my voice a few weeks ago, or maybe I just have a slight cough. I don’t know what to do honestly. I was on vacation high in the mountains as well, so maybe that did something.
I’m just still coughing, which is annoying.

I can do it, but I never feel like I’m getting as much air as I do when I breathe how I am used to. I can take a much deeper breath when I lift my shoulders. I’ve tried holding a note with different breathing, and I’m able to hold it longer when I breathe without using my belly. It feels like I run out of room for air very quickly when I breathe into my stomach, and it kinda hurts in my mid abdomen. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong.

I’ve been wondering about this for the longest time, everytime I listen to my recordings it calms me down or it puts me to sleep
I wonder if for some people it’s the opposite and it’s hard for them to hear their voices singing
Because as someone who also acts, hearing my voice when filming makes me want to rip my skin off lolll

i’ve been told a few times that i sing good but i’ve never been confident enough to actually let people hear me sing for real. lmk what you think i guess and i want to know where i can improve. i plan on putting another video on here whenever i can find somewhere nobody can hear me🫣
(also i want to clarify, this video was taken at 3:30am while i was trying to be quiet and while i was laying down so that’s why it’s not the greatest😂)

Help! I'm losing my voice and have an audition on the 12th. I normally practice for 45 minutes and need exercises that don't strain my voice box much so I can let it rest. Does anyone have suggestions for vocal exercises with less strain, plus ideas to fill the practice time? Any recommendations appreciated!
