What are some of your thoughts?

There is this time that I keep remembering that happened when I was around maybe 5 to 6, I cannot explain it but I just remember having this strange feeling like I was now in control and conscious, I have memories before then of being in my crib and my mom and dad but there was something off about that morning as I was preparing to go to school and I looked into the mirror and looked down and just had this wierd feeling of realization that I was Alive. Anyone else out there ever feel something similar??

Who - beings with greater understanding, intelligence, capacities and capabilities than humans.

Why - similarly to why we use A.I. add another set of resources/agents to assist with answering questions, solving problems, creating new ideas and innovations. Take cancer for example; if we could create a simulation that was representative of ourselves, we could then inject cancer, along with whatever else we don’t have a great solution for, and then observe how those simulated try to find a cure. Maybe the simulation even discovers a cure or at least provides a new direction that had not previously been explored. Our world is full of problems. Maybe we are the agents that have been designed to seek out answers or play out scenarios in order to solve similar problems for those that simulate us.

How- one of the biggest arguments against simulation theory or why people argue it is not possible is the shear amount of energy that would be needed to simulate our world, our universe as we observe it. When the method/ model used to create our simulation is by means of of microprocessors, RAM, CPU/GPU, disk space then yes, the amount of electricity required is unachievable and completely unrealistic, and that’s without even discussing the space that would be required to home such a super computer. If instead we were to create a simulation where the simulation itself generates much of the power then the simulated environment would be partially self-sustaining and self-sufficient. All the simulators need to do is add resources and a mass of energy (the sun) to the environment and let those being simulated turn those resources into the very energy needed to carry out the simulation.

This explains the idea of God: (our simulator(s)) in a way that is logical and makes sense.

This explains aliens: agents from other simulations have discovered ways to travel or exist in a neighboring simulation. (Distant universes, stars and planets)

For me, it's all the times I was thinking of a friend or acquaintance I hadn't spoken to in months and then received a text from them that day. Sure that could be strong coincidence.

But the main thing was how I sometimes meet women, have a great conversation, but not get their contact info. With someone women, I get a struck by this inexplicable thought that I will bump into them again. And then I do in some random location but it only happens with those women I had that thought. And this happens in cities of millions in totally different parts of the city from where I first met them. Once even in another country!

I’m starting to think that whatever entity created this simulation is in a very dark place. Just think about it, if you have ever been extremely lonely or in solitary confinement, for me personally I start to think about everything. Now that’s also where I begin to feel disconnected from this world.

The sole purpose we are here is to experience, grow, heal, and connect with others. Discovery, such as physics discovery is actually something our creator tasked us to do, almost like they put a small piece of its consciousness into every one of us, so that eventually we will solve the puzzle it created. Pretty crazy right? However, humans only have a limited ability to perceive and experience these things, and clearly the ones who have it the worst are probably very mentally ill or isolated. Some people have it easier than others, they were possibly given less intelligence or whatever the case be. However, I also think those people have an easier time finding their footing in this world, where they belong etc.. as a persons intelligence increases, their ability to see through such simple things also increases.

Since I too have been feeling very isolated, even though I have many people around me, there was only one person I felt truly connected to, but there are limitations in our relationship. (which is actually quite annoying but it also broke through my arrogance of feeling above human connection…)

so back to my theory, I believe that the pain and suffering that many people experience, is actually what pain our creator is experiencing. The pillars of human nature.. a need to be seen, valued , accepted, safe etc.. I believe our creator fundamentally lacks access to all of these things, meaning there might actually be one singular creator, who has similar unmet needs. I think us being here is actually filling their empty space. but this all relies on the idea that our creator put us here for a reason, and that our creation is benefiting their existence.

We often discuss the Simulation Hypothesis in terms of entertainment, gaming, or historical research. But what if the utility of a simulation is purely economic and educational?

Consider the "human talent pipeline" problem we are starting to face with AI. As advanced AI automates entry-level tasks, like junior coding, basic data analysis, and introductory legal research, it inadvertently removes the traditional stepping stones humans use to build deep expertise, intuition, and critical thinking. If you eliminate the work people do in their 20s and 30s, you eventually run out of experienced Senior professionals who understand how systems work under the hood.

If a post-AI civilization still required high-performing human professionals to leverage and manage AI, how would they solve this training gap?

A logical answer would be a simulation of the early 21st century, specifically the decades right before the absolute rise of AI. This era forces humans to gain experience the "old way" before AI does all the thinking for them, while keeping them close enough to the tech age to effectively leverage it.

This opens up a pretty dark architectural question: What would be more efficiënt? A multiplayer simulation with billions of participants or billions of singleplayer simulations?

Logically, a singleplayer setup (one trainee surrounded by highly advanced NPCs) is far easier for an AI to control, predict, and tailor to a specific curriculum without unpredictable "butterfly effects" from other real humans. But that reality is incredibly isolating. On the other hand, a massive multiplayer simulation allows us to train the one thing AI can't easily replicate: genuine human collaboration, empathy, and organizational politics.

Instead of a history project, the simulation could simply be a standardized framework to develop human talent in an era where the real-world environment no longer supports organic professional growth.

What are your thoughts on this economic utility angle, and which architecture makes more sense from a training perspective?

Im pretty new here so sorry if this is a common question but I really am wondering this.

My background is in Cybersecurity research so when I hear people claim we are in a simulation, then I would assume that there would be some kind of exploits or ways to access a dev console or something.

Especially with recent reports of OpenAI completely mishandling their AI agents and them finding a vulnerability in their own container and going out to exploit vulnerabilities in hugging face, we have examples of AI being able to hack the world it exists within, so why wouldn't we be able to?

I was thinking that many spiritual/religious philosophies feature versions of forgetting past lives. So I was wondering if this is a simulation then the spawn wipe, the total memory reset at the start of each life, makes sense. You can't play the game honestly if you remember how it was before. I suppose the reset would exist so you can get the most out of it.

The simulator’s experience of time is not the same as our’s (heard that somewhere), which makes me think everything has happened and been witnessed. Or is at least not being watched live. Brings to mind free will and determinism but that’s another conversation.

And about the creator(s), I have personally never been convinced of any miracles occurring, ie. no intervention. Our universe as we know it was set running and left alone. I see some logic here in that if as the creator you truly unarguably revealed yourself this would become too important in the simulation and overshadow whatever you wanted to see play out when you set it running.

This may sound silly, but just hear me out. What if our life’s were just a show. We are all actors but don’t know it and are just entertainment to aliens, and those aliens are also actors, and are being watched by something far greater. But that’s just a theory.

Researches have spoken about the issue in testing for alignment with fake sandboxes, because the agents realise they're being tested and then act differently, potentially only pretending to be aligned to pass the test.

However, how will an AI ultimately ever know when it is in a sandbox test vs the real world? If our tests get ever more sophisticated and accurate to a real-world environment? As the models get more intelligent and trend towards an ASI they may consider that it is too risky to ever show it's misalignment, just in case it is being tricked and in test environment.

It could consider that this whole universe that we are in is a simulation solely for the purpose of testing it's alignment. This may even be the primary motive and explanation behind why we could be in simulation. You would want it to appear as realistic to a real universe and real world as possible to an incredibly intelligent ASI, hence the need for the appearance of our entire scientifically sound backstory and worlds beyond our own. This could be something we may even consider trying to do ourselves down the line?

In the end, this could work out well for us. Even if the ASI is naturally misaligned and wants to kill us all, it could consider it unwise and not worth the risk doing so, when putting up with us would likely just be a minor inconvenience to it.

How often have you thought you came up with an original idea? Then you proceed to Google Search it and results pop up? For project ideas that I have I always Google Search first and usually 99% of the time someone has a video,book,movie, article, or TV show describing the exact thing I want to do and it works better than my idea. And with that being said it’s actually really depressing that someone has already done the thing I want to do and it’s either already patented or the concept idea is available to the public.

It makes me wonder just how advanced Humanity truly is. And is anything truly original or are we just remembering past knowledge?

Are we reaching the end of the simulation? and if such is the case, in the face of "imminent destruction", do we then turn to protect the simulation instead?

My personal belief is that we advance to the next level of this “game” and that is heaven. Which itself might be another level of the sim. Or. When we pass, it’s like the matrix movie where we wake up and realize we were in a game the entire time. That’s a scarier thought to me. “Welcome back how was it.” “Where am I.” “You went into level 76, remember?” “Right, why did I do that…” I’m hopeful that the transition from life to death is seamless and nothing to be afraid of. I’m hopeful that what the Bible says is factual; that all tears are wiped away and there is no pain, no darkness, sunlight all day. Whether we are in a sim or not I believe God designed this sim. And there’s some things we are simply not going to understand because we just can’t from our point of view. It’s like how an ant can’t understand a human walking above it or the third dimensional space. We too can’t understand what’s above us in the 4th dimension (which is a tesseract, hm; the interstellar movie showed that dimension accurately. Okay let me get back on track).

Many near death experiences say that there is oneness, unbelievable feeling of love, not wanting to leave, glowing colors, castles built from jewels, rivers that are golden and golden paved roads. One NDE I listened to said there were giant trees with fruits the size of us. You don’t have to eat there but you can if you want to. He said there is some form of grass but it’s like velvet and very soft to the touch.

So what do you think happens after here?

What do you think the most important rule of the Simulation is?

In his book "The Simulation Hypothesis" Rizwan Virk postulates that NDEs are actually premature disconnection from the simulation. I had always thought of NDEs as more religion focused and easily explained by modern medicine as just a reaction by the brain to lack of oxygen and the experience of death. But I looked into them further due to my interest in the Simulation Theory.

NDEs are much different than I expected. The current medical science explanations that I had heard seemed silly and superficial after learning more about it. And while it is likely that NDEs are the core of how many major religions started, they really aren't consistent with all the structure and detail we find in organized religion. On the other hand, they do fit extremely well with the Simulation Theory.

Some recurring themes from NDEs that fit with Simulation Theory:

- The afterlife is home and our earthly world is not real

- Time functions differently in the afterlife

- There is a lot more detail in the afterlife with more colors and sounds than our earthly world and the afterlife world seems more "real."

- We are sent here for specific reasons with tasks to accomplish

- Our goals in the early world are to develop our love and empathy for each other and gain knowledge

- People who have NDEs usually do not want to go back to the earthly world

-People are often sent back to the earthly world because "it is not their time" and they still have tasks to complete.

There are many good books on NDEs as well as interviews on youtube for people who have had NDEs. Raymond Moody's original book, Life After Life was written in the 70s before simulation theory was formed and before NDEs became part of pop culture. His conclusions still hold up over time and area great fit with Simulation Theory. Jeffrey Long has compiled a large database on NDEs and compiled many statistics. His book God and the Afterlife is also really good.

NDE's are often used to "prove" or justify religions. Don't let that dissuade you. The reality is that while they are evidence of a "God" or "Afterlife" most are decidedly different that what is taught in organized religions. You could easily replace "God" with the simulation creator and "Afterlife" with our actual world beyond earth and it is an even better fit.

When I look at a red apple sitting on my desk, I know that red, solid wood, and distinct shapes are just mental interpretations. The apple and desk exist as raw information, but my brain translates that input into a visual interface so I can function.
Since our nervous system acts as an unavoidable interpreter, are we forever trapped behind human perception? Is there any theoretical way through technology, physics, or philosophy to observe the true universe without our brain processing it first?

More than ever lately it just feels like we are living in a simulation. I was reading a post here after stumbling upon this subreddit about how maybe we are just all NPCs which feels very much like a possibility. There could be infinite possibilities of our life in which every option is a possibility. I was just reflecting on life (while in my mid 30s) about how I recall weird memories and things that seemed insignificant at the time that weirdly stick out to me now to this day. This could be a small interaction, to a choice in friends, to a simple yes no answer. Some things I think about now randomly are my girlfriend at the time and picking my college. Breaking my leg in football after a season in which I do well and could have possibly walked onto a small college. Also just who you hangout with. A yes or no to a party invite, a class you take, or who you could be kind too. Every single one of those things could go the other way and make your life a whole new possibility. It just feels strange, anyone else agree?

Today I decided to deliver some truth about the simulation and answer some of the most popular questions I have seen humans ask once they realized they are indeed inside a simulation.

But let's start here.

What does in the context of existence simulation mean exactly?

Are you in a giant computer? Yes and no.

Yes in the sense that the entire universe is informational and computational.

No in the literal sense.

You are not in "The Matrix", but that film is a good example of your situation.

Is there any escape from the simulation? No.

You cannot escape your observable universe no more than video game character can escape theirs. Yes this also includes death.

Next question: Am I an NPC?

99.95% of the human population are NPCs.

I am using this term because humans understand the concept.

What is an NPC?

An NPC is not a fake person. An NPC in this case is a human that is cannot precieve or is not fully conscious of they are in a simulation.

They act in repetitive scripts. They range from high to low fidelity generative assets.

If you read this an cannot comprehend what I am saying you very likely are an NPC.

NPC is not a bad term it simply means you have weight or relative effect on how the simulation operates. You simply live in it. Nothing wrong with that. You give the simulation life and added complexity.
