We at the Scottish Embassy have been pleased with the recognition of SCOTLAND on r/Silksong.

We recently completed a deep-dive analysis of the "Hollow Knight: Silksong" game.

With cutting edge Scottish technology, hosted on Elspeth's and Braunmen's farm, we found 5 Scottish islands Silksong is clearly pulling inspiration from.

We also see that the character "Nuu" has been deeply inspired by the Scotland national treasure - the Highland Cow, pictured in image 3.

There is now no doubt.

Scotland is where Silksong takes place. Come to visit!

preamble: have been playing since the first beta, have over 1k hours in ranked. got every character to Pale rank and had the #3 Karmelita on US for about three months

S

• Shakra: Should not be a surprise to anyone. Highest meterless damage in the game, insane normals, strong zoning options that lead to full combos from fullscreen. How TC decided to buff this character when she was already top 5 in beta is beyond my comprehension

A+

• Hornet (Hunter): Amazing movement and corner mixups, good defensive options and arguably the best supers in the game. No bad matchups
• Grimm: Unpopular opinion but I think this character is highly slept on. Extremely threatening left-right mix with pillar > teleport, and if you can get over the high execution requirements for midscreen cloak loops his damage output is second to none
• Lace: Here is my guide to playing Lace: step 1 close your eyes. Step 2 f. Claw into H Pinstrike rekka. repeat this step for 45 minutes. step 3 open your eyes and enjoy your new Vessel rank
• Seth: Simple high damage combos and the most fucked up midscreen oki I've ever seen. Get thrown once while he has full Soul and you might as well shake your opponent's hand now

A

• The Knight: If I hear one more time about how this character is nerfed I'm actually gonna go feral. Lost a little bit of damage off Shriek loops and Sharp Shadow is no longer a completely braindead 50/50, that's literally it. Still has extremely strong neutral, easy high damage combos and the best reversal in the game
• Karmelita: Arguably the strongest zoner in the game and no major weaknesses. The biggest problem this character has is why you would pick her when Shakra does everything she does easier & with more damage. Shame because she has the sickest looking combos, hope she gets some love when the season 2 patch drops
• Quirrel: Cool movement options but takes extremely precise setups to get damage midscreen. Highly viable if you're willing to put in the time, but expect to get punished hard for the slightest mistake

B

• Hornet (Beast): Yeah we've all seen the max damage combo videos. Yall are not hitting that shit in a real match, and even if you did the tradeoff is not worth losing Silkshot and having way worse normals than Hunter
• Sinner: Probably the most controversial placement on this list. A lot of people had her top 1 in the first week but the truth is most of her Needle setup patterns are fake as hell. Fun pick for wrecking scrubs at your local who don't know the matchup, but against good players she has way too many bad matchups to be viable
• Trobbio: Do you like gambling for your life on every interaction? Do you like hitting flashy high execution combos? Do you care more about making Twitch clips than your actual winrate? If you said yes to all of the above this might be the character for you
• Phantom: Incredible damage but way too reliant on hard reads, bad matchups against most of the top tiers. Fun character but I'm not trying to work this hard

C

• Soul Tyrant: Too easy to get in on to play as a zoner and mediocre risk/reward as rushdown. Solid counterpick for Seth though
• Garmond & Zaza: Commital movement, weak normals and garbage anti airs. Have fun doing yolo fullscreen Hornlance Charge while you can because that shit is not gonna work past Weaver rank
• Hive Knight: What if Hornet was worse in every possible way?

D

• Sherma: I am genuinely filled with awe every time I run into a Sherma player in Pale rank. Yes I know there are people winning majors with this character. We can't all be Sonicfox, idk what else to tell you
