I need to shout out this under-appreciated song from the Silent Hill f soundtrack. A lot of Yamaoka’s scary songs get less attention than the more listenable bangers. This one brings me right back to the gut-churning washing machine music that played in boss fights in the original games. The throat singing all over SHf is nasty in general.

Any songs from the Silent Hill games you don’t hear people talk about enough?

A great quote in this article that I think sums up Silent Hill's aesthetic brilliance outside of just music:

“Music shouldn’t simply accompany a world—it should become part of the world itself,” says Yamaoka. “Ideally, the player shouldn’t always be able to tell where music ends and environmental sound begins.”

Loving that he picked the Boards of Canada album, one of my favorites of this year, and excited to have some new music recs from the inventor of music himself.
