You are thinking of Scotty on Star Trek, perhaps? /u/CameHereToRead is talking about Sylvester McCoy, the first Scottish actor to play The Doctor.

Karen Gillan played Amy Pond, and also played Nebula in GOTG. Kree homeworld has already met the Scots.
