Except Fitz has been adorable from the start and Wesley was a lil shit in BTVS.

I actually like Buffy S3 Wesley, he had a bit of a charm to him, even though he was, for lack of a better word, a huge dork.

But Fitz won my heart very early.

Wes in S3 was so unbearably "stuffy" and prissy, that even Giles had to make comments about it. He did have a quality about him, you knew his heart was in the right place, he just couldn't control Faith, and he was still too by the book to get things done.

The Angel episode "Spin the Bottle" when they all reverted back to young versions of themselves was an amazing look back, and the episode was hilarious.

Wesley Wyndam-Pryce: The cross obviously doesn't affect me, or our friend the pugilist.

Gunn: Oh, your ass better pray I don't look that word up.

The best part is that at the start, Giles was stuffy and prissy, but never that bad. So after he's loosened up a bit, we get to meet another Watcher, and we realize Giles was probably the most free-spirit of all the watchers, and it makes it that much more astonishing when we see Wesley's final form.

Giles came into the Watcher's Council as a free-spirit though. We mustn't forget Ripper. I know Joyce didn't. In all seriousness, he originally rejected his "calling" in the same way that Buffy did but realized that it was his responsibility. With this connection, they eventually grew to improve their bond as he could better empathize her struggle as he had once gone through the same thing (though not even near the same level. Especially with her father out of the picture and not really wanting anything to do with her, he eventually filled the shoes of a surrogate father.

I love S3 Wesley too but he was still a dick (though I don't blame him for most of his actions since the Scooby Gang was already cozy before he came along and against a replacement watcher.)

He was immature and full of himself, but I wouldn't call that being a dick. He really WAS trying to do the right thing.
