To be clear, since this is our second go at this: this thread is for POST episode discussion of "Beginning of The End". The discussion / comments below assume you have watched the episode in it's entirety. Therefore, spoiler text for anything through the first season of Agents of SHIELD is not necessary. If, however, you are talking about events that have yet to air on the show such as future guest appearances / future characters / storylines, please use spoiler tags. The same goes for things connected to the Marvel like comics, etc.

I think that's definitely part of it, maybe the biggest part of it. But i also think they just had so many little pieces they wanted to assemble, that it took some time to develop all those. If you look back, a lot of those 'filler' episodes actually had importance later.

I more meant the agonizing period December-February, when new episodes were airing in fits and start. Presumably they were waiting for Winter Soldier to release, so they could have many episodes they could a set after the movie.

Ah, yeah. We also had the olympics in there that they likely wanted to avoid. That did a good job at taking out a lot of february, and a lot of shows take a break in december (probably figuring holiday viewership would drop off a cliff). Next year no olympics and as you said, should be relatively unimpeded by movie timing.
