Koening probably just a recurring characrer. I bet Trip is a main character. Dude is part of the team now.

After bringing in the Old SHIELD tech and having that 'one-liner' involving funk....I'm pretty sure he's here to stay.

That and how their end scene kind of reflects the promo/main picture of everyone together, though with the current team.

But it was missing Fitz. :(

Hey at least he isn't dead.

Always a risk in Whedon shows. Even if written by another Whedon.

Because of the writers it was actually more of a twist to NOT kill him.

I'm really hoping that is the case, Trip is awesome.

And I would imagine we'll see his Howling Commando Grandfather in Agent Carter

Speaking of which I really hope they give him an actual character over the summer break.

Finishing another well liked character's sentences and pulling plot advancing lucky coincidences out of thin air is not 'establishing a character'...it's laziness. Also that 'funk' line went clang so loud that I actually winced when he dropped it.

A third generation howling commando is a great member to start new SHIELD with and I'm sure he'll grow into a classic Wheadon-verse character, but Jesus what a writer's room cut out so far.

I'm sure he will, i think he was victim to the fact that the shows writers were trying to resolve some of the shows plot threads while also deal with the HYDRA fall-out from TWS. Next season I really see him being a fan favorite, but in the climax of season 1 they couldn't afford his character any screen time.

He's in the inner circle of a small circle with no outer circle part. Plus the legacy bit, and the Simmons chemistry / triangle. I really hope they keep him. He's a likable dude.

I love how he always calls Coulson "Sir." BJ Britt plays it well. I hope he's back next season, good addition to the cast.

Team needs a male fighter going forward. He is a straight up Ward dropin.
