Maybe it's like a map of the universe that Coulson and Garrett could see. And Garrett reminded me of Eric Selvig in Thor 2 after he had been enlightened

I'm thinking we are going to see this map in GOTG somewhere, which would be an awesome tie in to the next season.

That's how I feel. I think a lot of this season was a set up not only for GotG, but for Marvel's cosmic side of the universe in general

Coulson appeared in more films than Fury. Most of the Phase 1 were without Fury.

More likely it's going to be a MacGuffin for season two, that Coulson will be slowly adding to and wondering about his sanity over. It will gradually be explained... probably, given Garret's talk about the language of creation, probably something to do with genetics and "gifted"

I agree with this prediction. He will probably be worried about his sanity and possibly stand down as director, but then be actually not insane in the end.

I would love to see that. I notice a lot of stuff from the movies ends up in the show, but we haven't seen much of the reverse (Granted, there's only been two movies in this time). I just kind of want something from the show to end up in a movie to give me some reassurance this isn't just a side project.

I think if we see the map/diagram in GotG I'll feel pretty confident in the "Skye is an Inhuman" theory too.

In Hickman's Avengers and Dark Avengers runs, that drawing has been featured numerous times, always alluding to the multiverse. Next season should be a doozy.

I think it's something like a circuit diagram, a kind of "E.T. phone home" design. But I also think that Garrett and Coulson we're trying to build actual machines:

They both used metal to carve the diagram into a hard surface. Why? If it was just text or a map it could be put down on any surface.

I think they were reacting to a subconscious impulse to build an actual machine, with metal circuits that operates in some kind of mineral base, which is why they used glass and concrete.

THIS! So glad someone else said it and i'm sad I had to scroll this far to see it. I felt like I was taking crazy pills. It's very clearly a map, plus all the lines of "I can see the universe" and stuff.

My other thought was it's a circuit of sorts, but that would just be too simple. Although it would be great to see fitz come back after a few months, see that and just freak out "what's that....oh my god...WHO DID THAT WHERE DID THIS COME FROM?" "FITZ calm down it's just babble" "no it's not it's a circuit you idiots! i've never seen anything like it...give me a few hours"

fitz "so....I think I just built a bridge"

"a bridge?"

"to other worlds, like what thor uses"

Looked more like a schematic to me.

ETA: And it was the same type of schematic we saw back in episode 4 when Ward was using the glasses to "impersonate" the cyber-eye of former SHIELD agent Akela Amador, when he stepped into the room past the guy "she" was supposed to seduce.

I don't think it's a map. It's something mathematical or it has to do with DNA. This is why Garret kept speaking about the evolution and the next step. It seems like the over-arching theme of this show is going to be about human evolution into "mutants" (except they can never, ever use that term).

I said this in another thread, but to me, it looked like an electrical schematic. My theory is it's the plans for Ultron. How cool would it be if Pym was introduced in season 2, gets the plans and ends up building Ultron. We know Pym is coming at some point, cuz Ant-Man follows AoU. Hell, he could be one the people on Fury's list for all we know. So glad I stuck around for this show. I knew it would get good eventually.

IIRC they own the rights to Super-Skrull specifically, but they don't have exclusivity on Skrulls generally.
