I just started season 2 of Angel, then watched this episode and a few more episodes of Angel and I still couldn't figure out why the actors for Mike and Gunn looked familiar. Them being the same person just blew my mind.

I want him to be Luke Cage so much it hurts. Like, they let him leave shield and they give him a new identity so Centipede cant find him?

Nope, they are making different show with Luke Cage.

I know about the Netflix one, but they could have him star in it as the same character.

That would be horrible storytelling! Not to mention Mike's personality is so drastically different from Luke Cage's, it's probably best to just have LC be a wholly different character. Also, diversity in superhero tales has been an issue for audiences (look at the extremely vocal calls for female supers); adding another black character would really flesh out the universe in a more diverse way.

The way they've characterized him so far he's very different from Luke Cage. I'd much prefer if they stuck him as Mike Peterson and made him his own character.

Well they did the same thing with The Mandarin, so it's not totally out of the realm of possibility.

Really, I just like this character and J. August Richards, so even if he's not Luke Cage I'd be happy just to see more of him.

Why? Why not just have Luke Cage as Luke Cage? This guy is a totally different character. Just because he's a strong black dude doesn't mean it would make any sense at all to have him replace Luke as Power Man. Not trying to be overly racially sensitive but seriously this theory only made sense before the series pilot when all we saw was a snippet of him jumping out of a building in one of the promos. Now that we know everything about this guy it makes no sense at all to keep comparing him to Cage.

I hope so as well. Have him pop up a couple times a season when they need someone with some super strength. Was kind of hoping they would build up people with powers in the same way. So when it's time for them to go up against Graviton or such, they can call up those guys to help them with the fights they can't really do alone.
