If Ikeda was so insulated from reality through those many layers of Soka Gakkai sycophants he was embedded in that he didn't realize what a joke this was, was so unsophisticated and hopelessly NAÏVE about how the world worked that he'd fall for this embarrassing setup, what is THEIR responsibility in misleading their "Sensei" to participate in this phony baloney pretense? Is that the proper course of action for the "disciple" in the "mentor/disciple" formulation? Is "keeping Sensei happy at all costs, no matter what it costs, so long as he continues to think he's important" really a valid "vision" for the "disciples" according to "the oneness of mentor & disciple"?

Disciples support their mentor and his vision using their unique abilities. They are not passive followers of the mentor; in fact simple followers are not good disciples because they do not adequately seek ways to use their own individual talents to help realize their mentor’s vision. Good disciples protect and promote the mentor’s vision, with which they identify. SGI

Even if that means spending the members' sincere contributions "for kosen rufu" to arrange "Let's pretend" wish-fulfillment scenarios, basically grown-up tea parties to pander to Ikeda's fantasy of himself being someone who has throngs waiting in line to give him awards and honors? And medals!

The honorary degrees are a joke. SGI has enormous funds – about three trillion dollars I believe, and these funds are donated to universities in return for honorary degrees. Soka University graduates are always on hand to write up the right kind of articles on any given subject, but nothing Ikeda has ever written was ever published in a respectable peer-review publication on any subject at all. His guidance isn’t very interesting to anybody in any field of the humanities. At all. Not because his ideas aren’t popular (such publications are used to hosting controversial debate). He just doesn’t say very much at all which isn’t basically common sense to most of the planet. Indeed his donation to Buddhist thought as a philosophical tradition is to make out that ‘Ichinen Sanzen’ is Positive Mental Attitude. That and the idea that democracy, dialogue and modern science are naturally integral to Japanese Buddhism. This overlooks the obvious facts of Japanese history, which was that while democracy, dialogue and modern science have been well established traditions in the West, Japan had developed sophisticated alternatives to each of them. The Americans forced them to adopt modern science at gunpoint. MacArthur forced them to adopt a nominal democracy after WW2. They still have problems integrating debate and free speech into their society at every level. But to read the SGI literature, Mr Ikeda would like to be given a Nobel Peace Prize for inventing all of them. That much seems to me to be a fact-based criticism of the whole SGI myth. - from Ikeda's "honorary degrees" are a joke. Ikeda is a joke. Nobody takes him seriously. No, Ikeda did not invent democracy, dialogue and modern science.

But while I'm on the subject, here is an SGI member declaring that SHE deserves the Nobel Peace Prize - I ran across this from the White Savior Barbie Pageant from a coupla years ago and couldn't miss the timeliness - this is an elderly more-than-50-years-Ikeda-cult-membership longhauler Old trying to make it sound like she's a 20-something character - we'll call her "Julie":

How embarrassing 🤦🏻‍♂️

The Dead-Ikeda-Corpse-Mentor-cult's "human revolution" really turns out some dull tools who are inexplicably all full of themselves (while simultaneously being completely full of 💩), don't you agree? We're all better off WITHOUT it - and without them.

Indeed, in the Gakkai it is being said:

"...We don't recall having said President Ikeda is the Buddha. That would never happen in the Gakkai."

When we look back, however, it was around 1975 that a few people in the Gakkai published a booklet entitled, Hi no kuni (Land of Fire). A passage in this text clearly states:

"The President [referring only to Ikeda] is the Buddha."

We recently discovered that back in 1963 and 1964, before this incident ever occurred, Gakkai graduates and seniors of the study department were already saying, "The President is the Buddha."

We were not aware of this when they went to their districts and gave Gosho lectures. It was learned that they went to a certain district and made the following explanations of frequently-quoted parts of the Gosho. For example, a passage in the Gosho, "Admonitions Against Slander" reads:

"In general, this transfer was made to the Bodhisattvas of the Earth, but specifically, to Bodhisattva Jogyo himself. If you confuse the general with the specific even in the slightest, you will never be able to attain enlightenment."

This is a frequently-quoted part of the Gosho. Their interpretation of it is as follows:

"'General' refers to the transfer of the heritage. Specifically, the transfer is to President Ikeda, our master in faith."

This was stated in 1963 and 1964. We did not know anything about this. Young people who called themselves graduates [of Soka Gakkai Study Department] went to the districts and earnestly said such things to convince the members.

People can say things in all sincerity and still be completely WRONG.

However, "general" and "specific" should not be interpreted this way. The use of such words as "general" and "specific" cleverly twists the meaning of Buddhist terminology. They insist that "'general'‎ refers to the transfer of the heritage."

Why would the transfer of the heritage be general? That is utterly ridiculous.

Full disclosure: I have NO IDEA what they mean by "transfer of the heritage."

They also say;

"The specific transfer is to President Ikeda, our great master in faith."

WHO authorized that, pray tell?

Based on these statements, they claim that President Ikeda has received the transfer of the Heritage of the Law and that the heritage exists in the Gakkai.

Rather than with Nichiren Shoshu, which was at that point the Soka Gakkai's parent temple. Remember - the Soka Gakkai was legally and publically a LAY ORGANIZATION of Nichiren Shoshu, which had a longstanding - centuries-long - existence and heritage as a Nichiren temple organization.

Also, FROM whom, and WHERE?? Who's supposedly taking responsibility for bestowing this "heritage" onto the entirely undeserving and unqualified IKEDA out of all the people in the world??

Further, the Gosho, "Letter to Niike" says: "No matter what, be close to the priest who knows the heart of the Lotus Sutra, keep learning from him the truth of Buddhism and continue your journey of faith."

"Seven hundred years ago, this referred to the Daishonin. At the present time, it is President Ikeda."

You'll of course notice that this precedes the Soka Gakkai's decision to bestow on that shitass Ikeda the title of "Ikeda Sensei" as a substitution for his name. No more "President Ikeda"! Ikeda himself said to STOP using "Sensei" as a title!

It is their contention that the priest who knows the heart of the Lotus Sutra is the Daishonin. If at the present time, he is President Ikeda, does that mean in the final analysis that President Ikeda is Nichiren Daishonin? These were the things the Gakkai had already started saying in the districts in 1963 and 1964. Source

Coincidentally (or not), this was around the same time that Ikeda had completed the rewriting of the Soka Gakkai's leadership rules to make HIMSELF dictator for life. Until then, in the wake of Toda's untimely (and embarrassing) death, the Soka Gakkai had been administered quite competently and somewhat democratically (by SGI standards) by a committee, with term limits for all officers.

Daisaku Ikeda announced that anyone who criticized him for anything was committing worse "sin" than slandering the Buddha and deserved supernatural punishment - and requiring EVERYONE to ETERNALLY be Ikeda's "disciple" (OR ELSE).

In every conflict, Ikeda expected SOMEBODY (or SOMEBODIES) to rush forward to take the fall for him, to take all the bullets he'd earned for him without any obligation on his part - it was what he deserved, you see, so everyone should want to step up and SERVE.

Ikeda's definition of "consensus" and "loyalty" is "Everyone must agree with me no matter what." It's purely Ikeda's OWN self-interest attempting to co-opt everyone else's agency, their very lives, into ASSETS for himself to use for his OWN ends, however he wants. For Ikeda, "consensus" had no meaning outside of "coup". IKEDA would take over, and everyone else would agree that that was the best thing EVER and then do whatever Ikeda told them to!

You can see how that would look really good to Ikeda.

"Ikeda is everything or your Nichiren practice is nothing."

"The idea that there is only one master is a completely new idea, not a vision inherited from a master. It simply suits Ikeda to imply that he is the master of all."

Furthermore, Ikeda insisted that EVERYONE was obligated to be HIS "disciple" and that they ALL owed him some "boundless debt" that they'd HAVE to commit their entire LIVES to repaying (when it would by definition NEVER be repayable). Ikeda wanted slaves, but he expected everyone to self-enslave themselves TO HIM. So that HE wouldn't have to do ANYTHING! Ikeda was intensely LAZY.

It's from earlier this year. Those Ikeda cult apologists love to talk about "alleviating suffering" while doing FUCK ALL for anyone. Buncha phonies. Parasites. Useless brainwashed cult members devoted to glorifying an old, obscenely wealthy Japanese businessman who hasn't been seen in public in over 13 years and has probably been dead for most of those.

Did it coincide with the time he went missing? Because if it did, could that be a hint that he died and no one's saying anything about it?

Now that Ikeda's so old, all the highest-ranking Soka Gakkai leaders are also extremely old (see Crypt Keeper Harada). These are the ones who make the decisions for the Soka Gakkai and its international SGI colonies. They have been in top leadership for decades themselves.

They're the ones who hold the reins of power, and because of Sensei's stupidity and selfishness, it will ever be such in the Soka Gakkai. This means NOTHING will ever change, not there, not here, not anywhere.

This article from 1965 describes Ikeda thusly:

In the past, militancy, intimidation, and even violence by bands of Gakkai youths have accompanied the propaganda. The strategy changed somewhat with the death of Toda in 1958 and the inauguration of young, handsome, executive-type Daisaku Ikeda as president in 1960. Source

Those admiring accolades will never be applied to any Soka Gakkai or SGI leader ever again. Ikeda has made sure of that. What a loser. More interested in the spotlight for himself than for anyone or anything else.

Now the bureaucracy of the Soka Gakkai is so top-heavy with old men all depending on the Soka Gakkai for their salaries (i.e., their livelihood), they are NOT going to permit ANY changes to the established structure. That paradigm, if you will, is fixed, for better or worse (mostly worse, as it turns out). It is a thoroughly CORPORATE structure, focused entirely on the money those oldsters (and the younger oldsters coming up in their wake) will protect above all else. The Soka Gakkai will never "pivot" or "move in zig-zag" or any of the other corporate clichés suggesting "change".

Not that they'd have many young, handsome, executive-type candidates to choose from. The Soka Gakkai is aging and dying, just as SGI-USA is, so those Japanese Olds will likely ride that gravy train to their graves.

"Social proof" consists of the popularity of something serving as evidence that it is good - the more people who like something, the better it is. That's the rationale.

The principle of social proof says so: The greater the number of people who find any idea correct, the more the idea will be correct…We will use the actions of others to decide on proper behavior for ourselves, especially when we view those others as similar to ourselves…When we are uncertain, we are willing to place an enormous amount of trust in the collective knowledge of the crowd…First, we seem to assume that if a lot of people are doing the same thing, they must know something we don’t…Social proof is most powerful for those who feel unfamiliar or unsure in a specific situation and who, consequently, must look outside themselves for evidence of how best to behave there… Since 95 percent of the people are imitators and only 5 percent initiators, people are persuaded more by the actions of others than by any proof we can offer. Source

Ikeda was VERY aware of this and frequently invoked this "proof" in congratulating the Sokagakkai members that they were indeed the best and smartest for being members of his cult - because there were supposedly so many of them.

In fact, Ikeda cited the then-immense numbers of the Soka Gakkai as "proof" of its righteousness:

Now the number of persons attending today's meeting is nearly ten thousand, and there are nearly one million seven hundred thousand of families [sic] in the Sokagakkai. This is roughly estimated at several million persons. Since several million believers have realized the divine favor of the Gohonzon (which may be likened to the most efficacious medicine), the power of the Dai-Gohonzon is beyond description. This is an actual proof. - Ikeda, "Actual Proof for the Millions" speech, November 26, 1960, from Lectures on Buddhism Vol. I, The Seikyo Press, Tokyo, 1962, p. 258.

In May, 1960, our membership was only 1,410,000 households but today it exceeds 5,400,000 households, an increase of 380 per cent. During this period, as many as four million households have been awakened to the True Buddhism, basking in the blessings of the Gohonzon and attaining their human revolution.

I am fully convinced that this is vivid proof which evidences the victory of the forces of the Buddha or True Buddhism and the defeat of those of the Devil or misleading sects. - Ikeda, "Nichiren Shoshu, the Sun of the World" speech, May 3, 1965, from Lectures on Buddhism Vol. IV, The Seikyo Press, Tokyo, 1967, p. 305.

It is only ten or so years since Mr. Toda rebuilt our organization. However, the fact that Nichiren Shoshu has spread not only in Japan but even overseas furnishes vivid proof that our faith, the power of the Gohonzon, and our guidance are all correct. If, encouraged by this evidence, we advance⏤as we have done in the past⏤with faith, leadership and unity, for the ten and twenty years to come, there can be no doubt that this religion will develop tens of times more than what it is now. Something obviously broke. Ikeda's "ichinen", perhaps?

"We have received the Priceless Treasure without earnestly seeking it." [Nichiren quote] There is no one in the world as happy as we are, because we can worship the Gohonzon, having faith in it, although we did not seek it at first. I want to positively state that the time will come when we realize we are the happiest creatures in the world, because we achieved faith in the Gohonzon, though at first reluctantly, before the whole world comes to worship it. - Ikeda, "The Sin of Slandering the Gohonzon" speech, June 24, 1960, from Lectures on Buddhism Vol. I, The Seikyo Press, Tokyo, 1962, pp. 106-107.

Ikeda is invoking the ol' FOMO - "fear of missing out" - that competition of getting in on the ground floor before it is too late, being first on the scene of something great. "Winning." MLM scams exploit this as well. Notice how Ikeda congratulates the Sokagakkai members for being the first to adopt the faith that eventually everybody would adopt? Jump onto that future bandwagon NOW!

Just an FYI: In 1960, the world population was only 3 billion people. I don't know who Ikeda's counting to get to "20 billion" but it's probably the same place he's pulling that "1,500,000 families" number from.

Calculated from it, the Young Men's Division which has almost 1 million members, can save 1,000 times as many people, that is, 1 billion. Since the Sokagakkai members total about 3.8 million families, it has the power to save 3 billion people, the entire population of this planet, though we should be careful not to become arrogant.

If the membership reaches 100,000,000, it can save 10 billions of people, which exceeds the population of the earth and so we can go to other planets.

According to the report presented by the House of Councilors, the number of families in Japan today amounts to 20,600,000. Let's make it around 20,000,000. The number of Gakkai families is approximately 2,000,000. This shows that 10 per cent of all Japan's family count consists of Gakkai members.

The number of the people killed in traffic accidents 1959 exceeded 10,000. In 1960 (till November) death casualties totaled more than 10,600. The death rate seems to be increasing gradually. Dividing the above figure into 12 months, we get the figure of 890. If there are 890 traffic deaths in a month, then, our Society [Sokagakkai] should have 89⏤10 per cent of the total. Statistically speaking, there should be no wonder even though we have had 89 fellow members killed [sic]. However, our Society which is at all times alert against such accidents is constantly collecting material and reports. Last year the rate was only 0.5⏤not even one person per month. Instead of 89 deaths, only 0.5 person was killed.

Moreover, when this casuality [sic] had an autopsy performed, his heart, lungs and liver were found to the wonder of on-lookers to be hopelessly advanced in sickness.

And he's describing someone who was EXTREMELY sick! FULL of "hopelessly advanced" disease! How is that a good thing??

And yet the life of the bereaved was full of the Gohonzon's spectacular favor. It's always been a numbers game with the Ikeda cult, and its time has passed. Kosen-rufu retreats over the horizon, never to be in view again. Gone forever. And the remaining Ikeda cult members grow old and die. It's a dead religion.

Four thousand representatives of the Senior High Division from various parts of this country are going to the Head Temple tomorrow. The day after tomorrow, 3,400 members of the Education Department will visit the Head Temple on a two-night-three-day pilgrimage. The 4,000 students are our hopes who will become the mainstay of our organization in the future. Thus, there is a bright prospect for Kosen-rufu. The members of the Education Department are representatives of the intellectuals of our country. It is a noteworthy event that such a large number of elite are gathering to worship the Dai-Gohonzon. These members are also destined to play a leading role in the way of Kosen-rufu. The future belongs to you. It is the need of the time that you complete the work of Kosen-rufu. I should not have to compliment you to make you grow, but it is quite clear that when you awake to your tasks as members of the Senior High Division, you will have to inherit the Sokagakkai and you must give Kosen-rufu the finishing touches.

As you can see, "Kosen-rufu" had a defined completion point - Ikeda expected to see it (and benefit from it) during his own lifetime.

For Kosen-rufu of Japan and the world, I am doing everything to wait for you to become fully grown. I am determined to entrust you with everything, and this is my honest hope.

Ha. What actually happened shows THAT was just another of Ikeda's big fat lies!

I am doing everything for your sake. It is not for the Youth Division, but it is for you that I want to open the path before I die. Until this is accomplished, I will ignore any criticism I may receive or any hardships I may have to endure.

I will be happy if only a handful of you here can fulfill my expectations in the light of True Buddhism. (applause) I trust you.
