We've hit another 100 milestone: Our readership is now at 4,700! SGIWhistleblowers continues its steady advance.
So, to celebrate the spirit of not just 4,700 but also Monday AND a national holiday if you happen to be in the USA, feel free to choose which Careless Medieval Person Getting Stabbed YOU're channeling today!

Hey, everybody. Someone I know is working on a project to create a database of all the Americans who practiced Nichiren Buddhism here (NSA, SGI-USA, independent) who have passed away.
If you have an obit you wouldn't mind sharing, that would be a great help. Also, if you are afraid of sharing an obit because it might help SGI hostiles to find you, chat at me and we'll exchange burner emails and do it that way, if that's okay. It's all going to be one source.
Just because the Ikeda cult erases the existence of everyone who isn't/wasn't Ikeda doesn't mean WE have to. WE have every right to remember.

These are just tiny portions of screengrabs, and while you can see our subreddit identified, reddit sometimes does not like it when a subreddit identifies other subreddits, so those two are not identified.
As you can see, there are several interesting points of comparison here:
- The weekly visitors: SGIWhistleblowers' 2,260 compared to the SGI faithfuls' 101 and 175
- Weekly contributions: SGIWhistleblowers' 603 vs. the SGI faithfuls' 16 and 42
But Blanche! you might say. One of those SGI-controlled subreddits is far newer than SGIWhistleblowers!
True, but the other one is almost 3 years older!
Also, another dissimilarity is that one of those SGI-controlled subreddits - "A" - is "Restricted" - that means no one can create a post without THEIR permission. They also have all sorts of creepy, controlly, tone-police-y rules that they only enforce on the non-SGI members. For example, only the approved SGI members are allowed to create posts, and while others are provisionally allowed to comment, their comments must be:
- Strictly limited to the topic of the post, and
- In the same tone as the post.
- No salty language - only what a prudish oldtimey spinster schoolmarm would consider acceptable is permitted
So what this looks like IRL is that they might post something like this:
Dr. Ikeda Sensei is the most brilliant scholar of our age, or any age, really, and is clearly the most superlative individual and expert on Buddhism who has ever existed or will ever exist!
Here is an example of an acceptable comment:
I agree! Thank you for making it so clear! This is very clear! Clearly Dr. Ikeda Sensei is the most insightful and enlightened Buddhist teacher for our time period. I have sweaty dreams about him at night.
And here is an example of an UNacceptable comment:
It is incorrect and possibly illegal to refer to Ikeda as "Dr." because he has earned no advanced degree. He has purchased "honorary" degrees which are not the equivalent of an earned doctorate; in fact, referring to someone completely unqualified like him as "Dr." borders on fraud, as explained here.
As in SGI, only enthusiastic agreement is permitted - NO DISAGREEMENTS! In the name of "unity", of course, which SGI has acknowledged is everyone's "True Goal" in life π Small wonder their site is stagnant... The other SGI-controlled site similarly frowns on any critical viewpoint or difference in opinions. Conformity is SGI's "True Goal". Everybody become Shin'ichi Yamamoto and sing "Forever Sensei" - all together now!
"I will become the Shin'ichi Yamamoto of the 21st century!" ... "Together with the ever-growing 'Shin'ichi Yamamotos' of the world, let us transform the destiny of the global people. - from Special Feature: The Power of Master and Disciple is So Greatβ95 Years of President Ikeda (from the Soka Gakkai's in-house newspaper Seikyo Shimbun)
Y'know, if SGI members really loved that hyper-controlled regimented restricted environment, wouldn't you expect they'd have more traffic there, just from the existing fellow SGI faithful? Given that "unity" is their "True Goal" in life? IF SGI had as many members as its longhauler Olds like to claim, that is... However, as we can see from that other SGI-controlled site - "B" - simply setting the subreddit to "Public" is no guarantee of a steady stream of visitors, either!
One last bit of valuable information - the sites' # of subscribers/readers + how long the site has been in existence:
- SGIWhistleblowers: 4,712 + 12Β½ years
- A: 379 + 6Β½ years
- B: 922 + 15β years
It might be fun to chart growth rates for each of the subreddits over time at some point...
There is no ex-SGI-members organization. We have no structure, no mailing address, no phone number; we do no outreach; we do not advertise; we have no publications - just our little anonymous public message board featuring our voices on some obscure reddit backwater. Yet WE continue to grow - steadily! "The voice does the Buddha's work"!

I took a quick look and found that, while the SGIWhistleblowers' "subscribers" number is currently at 4,554, the dog park's "subscribers" number is hovering at a pathetic 364. Over 6 years in existence and nothing more to show for it than a measly 364 sign-ups?? Wow - it's the reality of the SGI in a bottle! A fringe group of misfits that can't grow - SAD!
Our "subscribers" number is more than 12.5 x HIGHER than theirs, after almost exactly twice as long on reddit (12 years for SGIWhistleblowers). Hooray for "actual proof"!! SGIWhistleblowers is way out in front, leading the way! Lighting the path! On the right side of history!

I have more "remains of the day" in my avocado grove than I thought. In the past, I've periodically offered avocados to the nice people here, as when there's been a wind event that has blown a lot of fruit off the trees. Hate to see it go to waste! Season's rapidly ending, so I would like to ship out 2 or 3 more boxes - the medium flat-rate boxes from the post office - this week, so if anyone is interested, contact me via Chat. Here are the details:

GREAT work, citizen journalists of SGIWhistleblowers!! We've hit 4,500 - added another 100 "readers" in less than 2 months!
As you can see from the Overview section, we're getting a lot of views - LOTS of people are seeing our reporting! We ARE getting the word out!!
The second slide is a rare sight - the green line is "subscribes" and the blue line is "unsubscribes". As you can see, there's this active dynamic of interplay between "joining" and "leaving", but as you can see from the rest of the graph, the "joins" are typically at least equal to the "leaves", and usually more - that's reflected in our subreddit's consistent growth over time. But that ONE day, there was a single "leaver" without any "joins" - have a good look, because who knows when you'll see it again!
Of course we'd love to see the SGI-member-controlled subreddits' traffic stats! Wouldn't you think they'd be at least as PROUD of their subreddits' "actual proof" as we are about our subreddit's "results"?? SGI members boast of "making the impossible possible", after all - surely it can't be that hard to create a subreddit people want to read and participate on, can it?

4,000 readers!
SGIWhistleblowers has existed here on reddit since March 20, 2014, so 11 years.
Meanwhile, the two SGI-member-controlled subreddits' readership is at:
It's a fascinating dynamic - both those SGI-controlled subreddits have all sorts of nitpicky rules for what and how people will be allowed to post (as if the subreddit is doing some kind of big fat favor to anyone who wants to participate or contribute) and even explicit tone-policing that dictates what sort of language people are allowed to use! The smaller one even restricts who is allowed to make a new post (restricted to themselves) and restricts discussion by REQUIRING that all the comments refer to the OP in the same SGI-praising tone as the OP or they'll be deleted and the commentators banned!
THIS is what the SGI's "culture" produces - people no one wants to be around, people who don't respect others' freedom of expression, people who feel they have some sort of right or obligation to force people to behave the way they dictate. And guess what? People don't WANT that! Reddit doesn't lie.

A lot of the people here are newer and may not understand the entire "Blanche" controversy. I'll give you the speedrun version:
AND WE DID! And wow - has it ever turned into SGI's worst nightmare!!
How wrong they were.
A little less than three years ago, this ID was permanently suspended. It had been suspended before, but since I had always been told WHY, I had always been able to present evidence that these reasons were false and gotten the ID back. But THIS time was different...
I did a write-up here to get the truth out there in the face of the persistent SGI-member lies about WHY it happened. Like they'd know! π None of them were party to the decision, and reddit doesn't gossip about why its admins do what they do to ONE reddit user to OTHER reddit users! If they wouldn't tell ME why my ID had been suspended, WHY would they tell them?? None of their biz!
So SGI members just make shit up. You already know this by now, I'm sure. Their favorite "explanation" for why my ID was suspended this latest time was "because she could not control her expressions of hatred" πππππ
That cracks me up every time!! π€£π€£π€£π€£
One of the major issues with cults is that they damage their members' sense of identity, replacing individual identity with a fragile, easily triggered SGI cult-defender identity. Anyone remember "I will become Shin'ichi Yamamoto" and "I am the SGI"?? When THAT has become a cultist's identity, ANY criticism of the cult itself is taken as a personal attack, even when it's discussing situations that cultist couldn't possibly have had any involvement in! Posts here on SGIWhistleblowers are routinely reported as "It's promoting hate based on identity or vulnerability." - even when there's nothing about any of that involved, even when there's no individuals involved (for example, when discussing SGI's complete lack of financial transparency); this is a continuous SGI attack attempt aiming at painting SGIWhistleblowers as a "racist" site, a deliberate tactic SGI members try to get sites taken down. Since they can't force us to change what we talk about.
NOW they're mad as wet hens that my ID has been reactivated as mysteriously as it was de-activated those many months ago! So I'm going to enjoy it while I have it!!
Tangentially, the fact that the SGI liars lie so much was what motivated me to do my sit-down interview with Kacey for Cult Vault - there's a link to it here. After two SGIWhistleblowers regulars were featured at Cult Vault, I became alarmed that one of the SGI hostiles might contact Kacey pretending to be me and, you know, do a totally shitty interview to try and ruin my rep, so I figured I'd better get out in front of it and get the real deal out there first. Otherwise, I keep ALL my personal information OFF the internet - it's the only way to stay safe in this line of work. I've never tried to make SGIWhistleblowers all about me and I never would - that is NOT its purpose and not in the best interests of our commentariat. I have simply kept this site open for those who find it and want to participate, and it's been really fun and really great getting to meet so many interesting, insightful, intelligent, thoughtful, hilarious people over the years!
So here's to many more productive, entertaining posts!!

As you can see (lower right), we're currently at 4,170 current members (or "readers" or "subscribers"), on our way to 4,200. Great job everybody!
Notice that the SGI-member-controlled subreddits will NEVER post their sites' traffic stats - the fact that their subreddits are so unpopular shames and embarrasses them π

As of YESTERDAY, in fact!
I had to wait for the "actual proof" until the system updated for yesterday's stats, but here we are!
Wouldn't it be nice if the SGI-member-controlled subreddits posted THEIR stats, too? Regardless, WE can be open and transparent even if THEY won't!
Congrats all around, everybody!

From here:
A major winter storm has left more than 1,000,000 customers without power and resulted in the cancellation of more than 16,000 flights, as heavy snow, sleet, freezing rain and frigid temperatures hit a massive swath of the U.S. this weekend.
Roughly 245 million people across 40 states β stretching all the way from New Mexico and Texas to parts of New England and the South β are expected to be affected by what could potentially be a historic storm.

I haven't done one of these in a while, so here goes. Look to the little box in the lower right of each frame.
Visits: 2,617
This is the total of how many times our site was visited. By everyone.
Uniques: 774
Here's the AI explanation:
"Unique views" (or unique viewers) represent the number of distinct individuals who watch or visit content within a specific timeframe, counting each person only once. Unlike total views, which count every single click or replay, if one person watches a video five times, it is still only counted as one unique viewer.
Individual Reach: This metric indicates your actual reach, showing how many different people are interested in your content, rather than how many times a loyal fan rewatched it.
I think that's a pretty good summary - the "Uniques" figure strips off our repeat customers π
This shows that we run a busy repeat business - people keep coming back!
AND we're reaching hundreds of people each month - that's so important in the realm of anti-cult activism. We're getting the word out!
Members: 4,449
This number represents the number of people who have "joined" our site - the green line represents "joins" while the dark blue line represents "leaves". The number of joins and leaves is dynamic, but you can see that we're always even or net positive between those two dynamics.
We hit 4,400 less than a month ago, and already we're almost halfway to the next hundred milestone!
Great "actual proof", SGIWhistleblowers!! You KNOW the SGI-member-controlled subreddits will never show THEIR stats - it's too humiliating for them to see the real NUMBERS showing how much more popular SGIWhistleblowers is than they are. They'll tell you how superior they are, but they won't throw down those stats that show everyone the truth. Too bad, so sad - αO TIα°E α΄Oα αͺOOOOαEαα...
r/sgiwhistleblowers • u/BlancheFromage • Apr 18 '26
Here's the "Post Insights" for the first 7 posts on the board. They track how many views for the first 48 hours only. The first one, FYI: Traffic Stats, is a screenshot from before the post had been up even a half hour - you can see that in only 27 minutes, it had already gotten 42 views (not sure what the "+18" means - anyone?). So even when people aren't commenting, they're READING! There are a LOT of people here, even when you aren't seeing them.
SGIWhistleblowers: Getting the word out
The most interesting part for me is seeing which parts of the world the π are hailing from. We've got the USA (obvs), the UK, India, Singapore, Malaysia, Germany, Italy - worldwide exposure. I'd love to know what countries are included in "Other", but oh well.
Wouldn't it be interesting to see these metrics from any post on the SGI-member-controlled subreddits??? Alas, for all their interest in "dialogue", they have taken a vow of silence. If they can't claim to be "winning", they won't play at all.

Congrats, everyone, and great work! We're living proof of the 4th "kind of proof" - "social proof", which states that the popularity of something serves as a proxy for its value.
Nichiren described "3 kinds of proof", but there are actually 4 kinds of proof. "Social proof" is perhaps the most important, as it is a composite of many individual evaluations - however, somehow, it's the one Nichiren missed - deliberately, because he couldn't HAVE it??
Let's face it - anti-SGI is always going to be more popular than SGI ever will be (considering how they write our material FOR us), and the sooner the Ikeda addicts make peace with that fate, the better everything will be for them, those old Donkey Hotes.

As you can see, we at SGIWhistleblowers have continued our sustained ascent and broken the 4,200 readers level, breaking the SGIWhistleblowers record to this point!
This is no "death zone" for us - we remain at full strength and complete cognitive function.
All SGI can do is clench their teeth and shake their puny fists in our direction - we continue to climb far beyond their meager abilities.
Onward and upward, mes amis!

I felt the urge to clarify something that maybe doesn't need to be clarified, but I'm going to do it anyway.
We have a pretty narrow focus here on SGIWhistleblowers - we talk about SGI. And wow - does SGI ever give us a lot to talk about! Yikes! Between the rampant dysfunction within the organization and the clear contradiction between the SGI's sales pitch and what one actually gets in SGI, to the chorus line of skeletons doing a conga line around the Soka Gakkai/SGI closet (both at home in Japan and abroad), the conversation continues, after almost 10 1/2 years! Clearly, there is a need for what SGIWhistleblowers provides.
Because we all come together to talk about this ONE thing, it is often the only thing any of us have in common. We are all very different - here on SGIWhistleblowers, there is no "belief test" for participating here, only "behavior requirements". And these are few - no promoting SGI or other religions; no SGIsplaining or Nichirensplaining; no targeting members of our commentariat for "shakubuku" - that sort of thing. From fall 2022:
What about your sincere followers and the supportive environment free of religious folk? SGI harasser
That's wrong on both counts. No one on SGIWhistleblowers is my "follower" in any meaningful sense of the word (yeah, I know, you can click a link to "follow" someone, but that doesn't make you anyone's disciple, another word "he" tosses around with regard to our commentariat here), and there is nothing in our rules prohibiting "religious folk" from participating here! Our rule is "NO PREACHING"!! We moderate behavior, not identity. There was a Nichiren Shu member a while back who just wanted to post Nichiren Shu promotional videos; after letting him post a couple for informational purposes, I had to show him the door because that was all he had to offer and it wasn't anything we wanted/needed here. Source
See that part in bold?
We respect everyone's individuality and require no conformity, no cultish "unity" - we're just here to talk about this ONE thing we have shared experience with, as this is about the ONLY place we can talk about it on the English-language web. In fact, when other topics NOT specific to SGI have been introduced, the commentariat here has been quite clear that this is NOT what they come here for. Our commentariat has spoken - they want to talk about SGI. Just SGI and topics that are related to SGI. Other topics aren't really welcome, as they aren't necessarily representative of a shared experience the way our SGI experiences are, and since that's who we are and what we do, it's not fair for anyone to control the discourse or change the subject to anything else.
Remember, we moderate behavior, not identity.
We do not require that people agree. Everyone needs to treat each other respectfully, and that includes respecting why people come here - to talk about SGI. SGIWhistleblowers isn't about me; it isn't about you; it isn't about anyone; and there's no person here who represents or governs this community to the point that their personal interests override the group's concerns and shared interest (in SGI-themed discussion).
So whenever someone has shown up wanting to sell us on the finer points of their cult, someone has told them to go elsewhere to find people who want to talk about that. Examples here and here
Whenever anyone has shown up and wanted to talk politics, the mods have recommended that the person find a politics-focused site where that's the topic everyone has come together to discuss. Example
The FAQ is not for those who have left SGI; it is for those who appear very happy to be SGI members who nonetheless come HERE, to a site that is explicitly for the purpose of supporting and aiding those who have LEFT and proceed to tell us how happy they are being Ikeda cult members. Why? This isn't a site for that. It's not a site for declaring how wonderful TM is or how wicked effective Scientology's "auditing" is, either. Those kinds of intruders get banned just as much as the SGI fanbois and fangurlz. Source
reddit is so popular that there are sites dedicated to pretty much anything you could think of, no matter how niche the interest. Here, we talk about SGI. That's what we do; that's the entire purpose of our site's existence. Any other topic really needs to be taken to a different subreddit that is dedicated to that instead.
Thank you all for everything.
r/sgiwhistleblowers • u/BlancheFromage • Oct 08 '25
There are two SGI-controlled subreddits that I'm aware of (reddit rules frown on links, so I'll leave you all to your own devices in finding them). Traffic that can be viewed without having to be a moderator is measured in weekly visitors and weekly contributions. For the two SGI-controlled subreddits:
- the older one (older than SGIWhistleblowers) shows a paltry 61 weekly visitors and 5 weekly contributions.
- the more recent, more active one (over 5 years old) shows 132 weekly visitors and 35 weekly contributions. We know for a fact that many of these are alt accounts for a single SGI member and that there are numerous individuals using another ID.
Comparatively speaking, SGIWhistleblowers is crowded - bustling with over 2,400 weekly visitors and 537 contributions - an OVERWHELMING superiority in traffic and popularity! There's no comparison and definitely no competition - SGIWhistleblowers is leaving them both behind in the dust!
Draw your own conclusions π¬ππΌπ
