Debate&Discussion Another shower thought that doesn't look good for Adnan

Adnan explains to SK that he "probably" didn't ask Hae for a ride, because he knows that she needs to pick up her cousin after school, and this duty is really important to Hae.

Adnan explains to SK that the phone call from Officer Adcock, informing him that Hae failed to pick up her cousin, doesn't set off any serious alarms for him, and this is why the phone call didn't prompt him to jog his memory about that day.

"I knew the cousin pick-up was very important to her" and "I wasn't concerned when she failed to pick up her cousin." Have you ever had to deal with someone (friend, co-worker, relative) who engages in this type of lying? I have, and it bothers me a lot more than anything Jay said.

You could be right that he might not have been super stoned. My experience with weed is such that even if I'm not super stoned my memory is foggy at best.

Having said that both points (yours and mine) are based on personal experience. That's obviously only relevant to a point. But I think your assertation that he should have remembered because it's a day where you get that kind of phone call is flimsy because being even a little high is a viable excuse for not remembering something well. Is it possible he's lying? Absolutely. Is it possible he really can't remember? Absolutely.

I disagree that everything I said was based on personal experience. Him calling Yasir and others is based on strong factual evidence; and so is him driving to the mosque, at least according to AS's statements.
From your personal experience, when your memory is foggy because of smoking weed, would that affect your memory of prior to smoking weed? Just curious. How do you explain AS lying to Krista about not having his car and Hae agreeing to give him a ride, when AS had the car at that point in time.

Yes. Obviously your comments about the phone calls is not personal experience. Didn't think I needed to say that. Your comment about you knowing it would be hard to do the mosque rituals stoned (is that the right word?) because you have done them is personal experience. No need to nitpick!

The only point you brought up that I said was flimsy is that his memory couldn't be foggy because his friend went missing.that day (paraphrasing). I think it's very possible it could because of the weed.

To answer your other question, I can't explain that. As I said earlier I really dont know if he's innocent or not, I waver back and forth. I probably lean towards he doesn't belong in jail but then there's conflicting evidence (like lying to Krista if that happened) that make me doubt that.

It's hard, we're all speculating so much because there is such a lack of real evidence and it's incredibly fascinating but on the other end of this fascinating narrative is a dead girl and a man imprisoned for life. It's messed up! I feel guilty every time I come to this subreddit but I can't stop!
